Advantages: Cheap, convenient for moments of stress

Disadvantages: Dont expect miracles

I'm not normally a nervous or anxious person but like everyone there are the odd times when I could do with a little support, something to take the edge off of whatever is annoying me. I don't like the idea of taking pills however as I worry about side affects and the possibility of becoming addicted.

I've had a couple of major reasons in recent months to need a little help, the first being learning to drive. It took me 4 goes to finally pass the test and I was becoming increasingly upset and worried about apparent inability to do something that millions of other people seemed to find easy.

My driving instructor suggested I try beta blockers when I failed the test for the 2nd time which I didn't think was a good idea, it seemed too extreme for me, or maybe then I could try Bach Rescue Remedy? Now I had heard about this but knew little about it just catching glimpses of the distinctive yellow bottles whilst shopping in Boots.

After much consideration and increasing levels of anxiety over my forth coming 3rd driving test I decided I had to try something and I could do alot worse than give Bach Rescue Remedy a go, so off to the chemist I went to see what was available.

Rescue Remedy is available in three different forms, a spray, pastules and liquid tincture. I decided to try the spray as it appeared to be more convenient and portable and therefore best suit my needs. The spray contains 20ml of mixture and comes in a small bottle with a distinctive yellow label and lid.

The liquid contains a 5x dilution of flower extracts of Rock Rose, Clematis, Star of Bethlehem and Cherry Plum according to the label. It also states that it's free from artificial additives and is suitable for vegans. It's recommended to apply 2 sprays on the tongue and of course dont spray it into your ears or ears, hmmmmm stating the sodding obvious there but if they didnt say that there's bound to be someone silly enough to try it.

Now the stress of driving and tests was too much for this little bottle to overcome, I failed my 3rd test and only passed the 4th time after getting in some much needed daily practise with my partner accompanying me to work and back. It did however help with another problem I was having to face....

I work in an office for a company selling leisure equipment, we have a group of sales reps half of which I support, the other half being supported by a colleague. Twice in two months my colleague was signed off work for a week with no warning, the second time was just before xmas plus I was coming down with flu. I had to struggle to get my own work done as well as hers and at first I did wonder how I would cope.

I found at this time that the Rescue Remedy really did help, a few sprays on my tongue several times a day helped me stay calm and relaxed. Sure I was busy and had constant demands thrown at me but I was able to sit there, take a moment to compose myself and think, well I cant do everything so I'll just concentrate on the really urgent things, everything else can wait. I felt confident enough to tell my bosses that I couldnt manage everything and they respected that.

I used this spray many times during those difficult weeks and barely a 10th of the bottle has been used. It cost me around £5 which for the amount you get and the way it lasts is brilliant value. It's cheaper than therapy and more readily available. The bottle states a use by date of April 2013 so I have another 4 years of stressful moments to find ;)

Summary: Useful for times of mild stress

I used to work for a supplement company and we sold this so if some of us girls had a stressful day we'd drop it on fruit and snack on it! Very nice on melon balls!!
