Advantages: A way of helping to clear hardened wax.

Disadvantages: none

Earache and toothache have to be two of the most uncomfortable conditions that anyone can suffer. The nagging pain of earache is very hard to relieve. Often as we get a bit older Ear wax becomes a problem. The wax is produced in small glands situated inside of the ear canal, the glands produce a thin film of wax to keep our ears clean and to help fight against any infection.
If too much earwax builds up that's when the problems start, my husband has suffered from hardened wax building up in his ears for a while now, it seems to be a problem that has worsened with age!
If the wax builds up too much his ear canals get really painful and the build up also starts to affect his balance and then he has to have them syringed by the Practise Nurse at our local Doctors surgery.

When you start to feel that your ears may be waxy there is a huge temptation to reach for a cotton bud and try to remove it manually...Big mistake!...our GP told us that poking about with a cotton bud can do far more harm than good, more often than not you end up pushing the wax further down into the ear canal and Heaven only knows what damage you are doing to your inner ear in the process.

This is where a visit to the pharmacy counter comes in, Earex drops are usually found on the shelf.

Earex contains almond oil, peanut oil and camphor oil , all are substances that help to soften the hardened wax and help it to come away from the ear more easily.
But always bear in mind if you have a nut allergy then you cannot use Earex. Once the bottle has been opened then you should not keep the contents for any longer than eight weeks.

I generally put the Earex drops into my husbands ears at nighttime, its a simple pain-free process, he tilts his head to one side and I put about five drops into each of his ears using the dropper provided with the bottle. As he puts his head straight again a tiny amount of the Earex liquid always leaks out, but its easily wiped away with a tissue and by then most of the liquid is setting to work on that hardened ear wax.
The process needs to be repeated the next night and sometimes we have had to use the drops three nights in a row.
At that point a cotton bud does come in handy to clean the outer ear properly, Earex drops have taken care of the inner ear problem but we mustn't ever forget to keep the outer ear clean too.

Anyone who suffers from wax building up in their ears will benefit from using Earex, it usually resolves the problem within a couple of days. If you find that the problem still persists after that then an appointment to see the GP would be the next step.
But Earex drops do help us take care of ourselves.

Earex drops are available from leading supermarkets and chemists . A 10 ml bottle will cost in the region of £2.89.

Summary: An Ear wax build up can be very uncomfortable, Earex help such a lot.

Re using a cotton bud - my M-in-law has a motto "don't put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear"!!??....Good review, Caroline xx

Don't talk to me about earache! I got excrutiating earache last year and tried these drops. It didn't work though as it turned out I had an ear infection. It caused both my ear drums to burst. Soooo painful!

I suffer from an excess of earwax, especially in my right ear. I've tried this stuff, but when my ear is really bad, the oil just seems to sit on top of the wax plug, and make things worse - then the only thing for it is a syringing!
