I used the first of the Early Bird tests one week after my period was due, and received a very faint line to say I was pregnant. As the line was so faint, one week later I used the second test to confirm the result and was alarmed when the test showed negative. I phoned Early Bird's helpline only to be told that 'if' I was pregnant (so much ...more

Premium Review Early Bird Pregancy Test: cheap and accurate (232 words)

This is the first and only test I have ever had to use. It cost me about £5 for one test from Superdrug. It can be used from day 1 of your missed period and can be used at any time of the day, though first thing in the morning is best as I would have thought it will be more accurate. I used it the same day of my missed period and it gave me an accurate result - positive, and the test was done early evening. It is slightly trick to use as you have to pee into a tiny pot (very messy trying to hit it!!) you then out a little foam ring around the predictor strip and float it into the pot. It says to wait a couple of minutes but for a more ...  Read the complete review

This home pregnancy test is one of the cheapest on the market, at around £8 for 2 tests. It's not the easiest test to use, you have to collect a urine sample in a small plastic pot, then put a foam ring over the test stick and float it in the pot for 20 seconds or so to get the result. Although the result was always accurate for me, a friend used this test and it gave a very faint positive, but when she did a different test it was negative - and she actually wasn't pregnant. So this test could possibly raise hopes or worry you (depending what you want it to say!) by giving a false positive, which is supposed to be pretty rare. I have since discovered ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Early Bird Pregancy Test: THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE BABY!!! (229 words)

Having had several pregnancy tests and scares in the past it ends up being an expensive deal with your average test costing at the cheapest £5 for one done at the chemists.I didn't like the thought of doing that and would rather have it done within minutes in the privacy of my own home so i went down to my local town and went looking for a cheaper but as reliable test. Then i came across the early bird tests.I had heard of the name before so at a saving of about £3 per test i thought i would give it a go so i brought a test of two and off i went home. The test instructions were clear and the proceedure was pretty similar to other tests on the market.Urinate in a ...  Read the complete review

I bought the twin pack of this test and have to say I was very disappointed with it. The test is fiddly to use when compared to mid-stream tests, which can be similar in price to this (Early Bird 1-Test £3-4, 2-Test £6-8). It involves collecting the urine in a small plastic container (provided) and inserting the testing stick into a foam ring, in order to float it in the urine. The result takes several minutes to fully develop, and can be read in a small area at the top of the stick, where there will be a line to say if the test has worked (or no line if it hasn't) and one to show your result. I used the first of the Early Bird tests one week ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Early Bird Pregancy Test: BEST TEST I HAVE USED (120 words)

HAVING SPENDING LOADS OF MONEY ON VARIOUS OTHER TESTS,I PICKED THIS ONE UP IN SUPERDRUG FOR £5 ON THE RECOMMENDATION OF A FRIEND. IT WAS THE EASIEST ONE I HAVE USED ALTHOUGH I CAN SE HOW IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT PEEING IN THE PLASTIC POT(I USED AN OLD JUG AND EMPTIED IT IN) THE TEST STICK IS THEN FLOATED UPRIGHT IN THE WEE USING A LITTLE RING SHAPED FLOAT .THE TEXT SAYS IT TAKES TWO MINUTES FOR A POSITIVE RESULT BUT MY HUSBAND SAYS MY SECOND BLUE LINE APPEARED STRAIGHT AWAY(I DONE A RUNNER INCASE IT WAS NEGATIVE!) I WOULD DEFINITELY USE THIS TEST AGAIN IF I HAVE NEEDED TO.PS: I HAD A BABY BOY IN MAY ...  Read the complete review
