Advantages: No side effects, nice tasting in spray form, Gets you well
Disadvantages: price
I have used Echinacea for a number of years as a booster for my immune system. It starts working within 5 minutes and I feel it lifts my spirit as well as combating viruses. I use it whenever I start a cold or feel just under the weather. You can buy Echinacea in concentrate, diluted or as a mouth spray, the latter being the most effective I feel. Echinacea works by encouraging your own natural defences to multiply and then seeing off any virus naturally, unlike drugs which tend to suppress viruses and can leave traces in your body to fight another day. I use Echinacea along with raw Onion which also helps revitalise your immune system, eat a small amount of onion in the evening and then leave half an onion cut open by your bed, tis smelly but worth enduring when poorly. Now I know I can write away and after being encouraged I will tell more. Echinacea in its fresh liquid extract form has a shelf life of about 4 years. A 50ml bottle lasts me about 2 years and costs about £6. Enough for about 90 doses. I don?t use it when I am well yet am sure it would help. I use it as soon as I have inkling that a cold or a sore throat is just around the corner and more often than not stops nowt else developing. I can feel a beneficial effect after 5 minutes, it puts a little smile on me, and though it sounds weird, I can feel myself getting better. I am sure it keeps working yet as I forget about taking it after half an hour can only conclude by not getting the full blown illness. And as for onions, they are a wonder food, when cut they release antibodies into to the air and when breathed in have a cleansing effect much as they do if eaten raw in small quantities. The cleansing, as I understand is for the blood which is the biggest benefactor from the smelly onion. Still I guess I should write another op on the onion and lemons and garlic and celery and lavender etc
