Advantages: RE-HYDRATED SEVERE SKIN CONDITIONS WITHOUT WORSENING THE SYMPTOMS

Disadvantages: VERY GREASY SO HAVE TO BE CAREFUL NOT TO STAIN MATERIALS - THUS LIMITED USAGE TIMES...

Emulsifying ointment has been an utter godsend for the eczema condition I have suffered with since childhood, although I had never heard of it in my life until just under a year ago!

It was brought to my attention via a routine medical review at my local doctors, where it was flagged that I was using too much Dermovate - which is an excellent topical steroid cream, but is not allowed to be used for prolonged periods due to thinning of the skin.

Unfortunately, I suffer with my dermatitis more severely during the colder months of the year; especially on my hands, elbows, knees and strangely enough, folks - the soles of my feet! Emulsifying ointment was mentioned as a super-hydrater for our skin's very dry points...especially for chronic to acute conditions such as my own.

During the day I am prescribed copious amounts of E45 which I find invaluable, but my hands in particular get in a terrible old state.

It was explained to me this is a very safe product to use, very rich in white soft paraffin (50%), and liquid paraffin also (20%). Basically this treatment is very waxy in consistency; therefore I was advised only to use it at night-time for practical reasons.

Admittedly a tad sceptical anything so 'ordinary' could make any different to ultra-sore skin with finger tip ends that cracked and bled on a regular basis, I impassively agreed to try the stuff on a trial basis.

Well dear 'dooyoo'er's', I have never looked back since as its fabulous stuff!

Delight replaced scepticism... although I still kept my normal applications of E45 up as advised by my doctor.

I was prescribed a huge 500gram tub that lasted me ages; in fact I'm sat here looking at only the second pot I have ever opened during all this time!

Used over a few nights consecutively, this rich waxy coating can make all the different to your skins hydration, feel, comfort, and certainly its overall appearance.
Sometimes my hands have the texture of a little old lady...only hers would be a darned sight softer than my shrivelled up paws, so I can tell you when I use this product it really does work!

The only major disadvantage is pretty obvious really; it's so terribly greasy it does stain any clothing, bedding, etc that it comes into contact with, therefore you have to be careful when lathering it on. A small price to pay for an ointment with its healing qualities methinks, in addition to being around the £2.18 mark to buy from the pharmacy, direct.

*TOP TIP*
*********
Apply at the very last moment before you retire to bed; then completely cover your hands or feet (pretty much wherever you're using it the most) with a pair of old, clean socks and leave them on overnight. Apart from protecting your bed linen, etc, it aids the natural oiliness of the wax to absorb further into the deeper layers of the skin! Then 'Voila' the next morning lovely soft hands again. Trust me...though I'm not a doctor! ;o) x

Summary: THIS CAN BE QUITE THE MIRACLE, AND DEFINITELY WORTH A FEW £'S OF ANYBODY'S MONEY TO GIVE IT A GO!
