BACKGROUND

I used to be a smoker, up until about twenty years ago that is. Hubby unfortunately still partakes of the filthy habit and, as such, over the years we have bought and tried a fair few smokers toothpastes. Eucryl is one of the traditional toothpastes that I remember my Dad, also a smoker, using in the fifties and sixties. It was then, I believe, bought contained in a round tin. These days it is in a round, tough plastic container, but I feel the product has only changed slightly.

EUCRYL

Eucryl these days is not always easy to find in the shops. Occasionally our chemist has some on offer and Wilkinsons tend to usually have some in stock. Packaged in an outer cardboard box a 50g pot is often around 99p. If I see it I usually buy a couple of pots just in case it is not around for a while.

Although it obviously is a little abrasive I do not find it exceptionally so. I still use it occasionally especially if I have been hitting the tea, coffee or red wine hard. The favourite flavour I buy is Freshmint. Flick back the lid and you will see mint green coloured powder. Have a sniff and the mintiness will hit the back of your throat and may even make your eyes water.

WHAT I DO NOT LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUT

Often limited availability.

As you wet your toothbrush and dip it into the powder, I prefer to have my own pot. I am not sure about the hygiene of sharing this tooth powder.

As it is powder it can get spilt and cause a mess.

The powder at the bottom is not as good as when it is first opened.

Somehow it does not feel as fresh as paste when using.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT.

It has a very fresh taste which leaves your mouth feeling really fresh.

It works really well on many stains including those from smoking.

Good value.

USE

It is recommended that you only use this tooth powder once or twice a week and use your normal toothpaste in between.

Simply wet your toothbrush, shake off any excess water, dip the brush into the powder and brush you tooshie pegs till your heart's content.

RECOMMENDED?

If you are a smoker this is a great product to have around. However if you are of an age, like me, when your teeth are starting to resemble old tombstones this product may help to keep you teeth looking a little brighter.
