Advantages: Inexpensive, removes stains completely, tastes fresh. No waste.

Disadvantages: Makes a mess if you drop the tub. (No prizes for guessing who did that!)

I use this powder once or twice a week to make sure that any dinginess or stains that smoking has left on my teeth is removed. It is absolutely brilliant for whitening my teeth and leaves them feeling beautifully smooth and clean.

Recently the manufacturers have redesigned the tub it comes in. Now it is a little deeper but not as wide. The best thing about it is that it now has an easy to remove screw cap. The old tubs had tops that clipped on and off and this usually meant that you ended up with tooth powder liberally scattered about the bathroom like greeny blue talcum powder.

I am delighted with the new tub, it works much better!

For a while it was difficult to find Eucryl tooth powder on the shelves and I tended to buy it when I was working in Ireland where it is more easily available. I am glad to say that the new revamped Eucryl seems to be finding it's way back onto more shelves.

The price of a tub seems to vary between £1.50 and £2.20 which is quite a wide range, I don't know why.
I got mine from Wilkinsons for £1.70.

It is available in two flavours, Freshmint which is a blue green powder and Original which is pink.

You dampen your toothbrush and dab it into the powder, this picks up enough to clean your teeth very well. You don't need much at all. It foams up as you brush, both flavours taste nice and fresh to me.

As I said, I don't use it every day, I alternate it with a less abrasive toothpaste in order not to damage the surface of my teeth. I don't know that it would remove the enamel if used too often, but I use an electric toothbrush and so I err on the side of caution. Once or twice a week with this is enough anyway to keep my teeth sparkling even though I smoke and drink a daily mug of industrial strength coffee!

A 50g tub lasts for a long time. There is none wasted like there is with tubes of toothpaste because it is possible to get all the powder out with your toothbrush.

Both the tub and the box it is sold in is recyclable.

This is what it says on the box.

"Extreme whitening, deep cleaning, and anti-bacterial action get your teeth incredibly bright and clean. Fast-acting, deep clean granules work on removing stains while fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and protects against decay. Plus an anti-bacterial action gives fresh breath confidence. It's a revolutionary formula that delivers a totally extreme whitening clean."

It didn't say that on the old box but to be honest I don't think that the formula has changed. I just think that they are marketing it differently.
It was first sold in 1900. (Not that I was around then!) So they have had plenty of time to get the formula right. It works for me and I really like the way it polishes my teeth!

Summary: It does what it says on the box!

I always thought this was something to do with dentures. That'll teach me to read the packaging!
