Advantages: clean feeling teeth, easy to use, cheap

Disadvantages: can't be used on bad teeth, can be messy if not careful

Many people will think of Eucryl as being a smokers toothpaste. That is often the first reaction that I get when I mention that I have bought some. Well, I don't smoke, but I do have slightly stained teeth. Because of this I have tried a huge range of products on the market for stain removal - the cheap and the not so cheap. I have found none to be very successful and resigned myself to the fact that expensive whitening treatment may be the only way to go.

When I saw the Eucryl Toothpowder in my local Poundland (obviously for £1), I was tempted enough to give it a go.

I believe the pot I have got is the old style packaging. It is a 50g white plastic tub, with a tight-fitting press on lid. Admittedly, it can be a little difficult to open sometimes, especially if you are trying to do it almost one handed as you are holding your toothbrush with the other. I've been told that the new packaging now has a twist on lid.

On the lid I am told that I have chosen the Original flavour powder and given directions to wet my toothbrush, shake off excess water and press into the powder. Brush the way dentists recommend, and to use this powder once or twice a week in addition to my usual toothpaste.
It also says "Avoid use on damaged teeth".

So, after doing as I am told - I place a pink powder covered toothbrush head into my mouth and start brushing. The first thing I notice is the taste. It isn't as unpleasant as I was expecting and I find it definitely bearable. The powder doesn't "foam up" like a toothpaste does, it doesn't feel like an abrassive scratching at my tooth enamel, but it leaves my teeth feeling very clean.

After a few uses, I can honestly say that I have noticed a difference in the colour of my teeth - the first time I have been able to say such a thing after using a stain removal or teeth whitening product. Although my teeth aren't perfect white and I would still like whitening treatment, by using this product twice a week, they have been taken a few shades lighter.

Summary: Definitely a product I will be buying again and again...

My daughter uses this stuff (though she's not a smoker). Perhaps I should give it a try on my ancient pegs.

I take this stuff on holiday (it gets round the stupid liquid limits at the airport) and once when I got stopped by an over-zealous customs officer in Berlin he ended up throwing the powder all down his trousers. That made him angry! LOL ;-)

Never even knew this stuff existed. Thanks for the brilliant review, I will keep an eye out for it.
