I had been trying for a baby for a few years, and each month was disappointed. One month, I had an overwhelming urge to do a pregnancy test. It was one day before my period was due, so kept telling myself to not waste my money and wait. However, by lunch time my urges got the better of me so I nipped to Boots and grabbed a pack of two First Response pregnancy tests. I paid £10.99.
The instructions are simple; hold the stick in your urine for a few seconds, wait for the window to fill pink and wait for the one (or two!!!) pink lines to appear. I waited until I was full to bursting and did my business in the loo and waited... and waited... and waited. Absolutely nothing appeared. The pink fog had clouded the window, but no pink lines. I put the test in my handbag feeling disheartened and irritated. I kept checking the test throughout the day, but it must have been faulty as still nothing. I did the other test when I got home and this time one pink line appeared; not pregnant. Throwing the tests in the bin with force, I went to bed miserable. That urge was still there, however, and I was feeling somewhat different. The next day, I sent the hubbie out to Tesco to grab one of their own kits. It was positive!
Whether or not I did something wrong, I don't know, but how difficult is it to do a pregnancy test? Maybe my hormones just weren't strong enough for the test to detect, but the manufacturers claim that it can give you an accurate result up to six days before your period is due. The day before your period is sue, it's meant to be 99% accurate. Perhaps I'm just one of those 1% of unlucky people?
From my personal experience, I wouldn't recommend this pregnancy test. One in the box was faulty, and the other one missed my pregnancy completely.
Summary: In my opinion, a pregnancy test which leads to frustration and disappointment: avoid it!
