It is an amino sugar (aminomonosaccharide – amino = protein; monosaccharide = simple sugar) which contains sulphur and is used for growth and repair of connective tissues, joints and cartilage. I swear by the stuff! I have been taking glucosamine since June 2000 and I can honestly say it beats even the best painkillers. Here is my story! When I was in my early teens I suffered from agonising knee pains and my parents fobbed me off with 'growing pains' saying that it would get better when I stopped growing.
