Advantages: Good results for joint inflammation and pain
Disadvantages: quite expensive
Glucosamine sulphate is the first product I have tried that has significantly reduced pain and swelling. I have ongoing problems with my hip following a car accident, and regularly take pain killers, and have injections. This product has worked miracles! Tests have shown remarkable results, including pain relief, and reducing inflammation, with no known side effects. Glucosamine is made in the body from sugar, and is used to stimulate the growth of cartilage. It plays a vital role in repairing joints and keeping them functioning normally. As we get older, our bodies produce less glucosamine, and as demand outstrips supply it becomes more difficult for joints to make a full recovery. Taking a glucosamine sulphate supplement helps the body repair damaged joints. It is often teamed with chrondoitin, which acts similarly to glucosamine, helping to nourish and hydrate the cartilage, keeping it healthy, flexible and strong. My osteopath recommended it to me, saying he had seen patients with quite remarkable results from it, so I decided to give it a try. It is best to allow a good four weeks before assessing results from it, and I have been recommended the high dose of 1000mg It is generally quite expensive, but zipvit are very cheap £16.95 for 365 1000mg, and I have found the quality to be excellent. They only come in zipper bags, but it is easy enough to transfer them into an old container.

- 18/11/00 My mother-in-law uses this and swears by it. Before she couldn't get out of bed in the winter, but after using this she even goes swimming in the winter now. You could try looking on www.egoldshield.com as that's where she buys hers from at bulk for quite cheap. |

- 19/10/00 I have quite sever arthritis and tried this. It hasn't worked for me, but I do know it has been effective for some people; considering the low risks of side effects I definitely agree it's worth trying |
