HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream
Advantages: works well
Disadvantages: not great long term for your skin
Around eight months ago my little girl suddenly developed a strange type of rash on her face so I immediately took her to the doctors and they thought it was an allergic reaction and sent me away feeling like a stupid paranoid mum. It got worse and worse until my beautiful daughter had several patches of this awful condition around her face. After several visits to the doctors, not one of them knew what it was - one thought allergy, one thought it was dummy rash (!?!) and another thought eczema and we have had five different creams and moisturisers now, none of which have been great.
The final cream we were prescribed was hydrocortisone cream and I was very worried about using this as my aunty is a nurse and she told me that using this can thin the skin which of course I didn't want to happen to my two year old little girl. Hydrocortisone cream is a mild steroid cream and is used for reducing inflammation which can be caused by an allergy or skin irritation which causes the blood vessels to widen and therefore the skin becomes red, itchy, inflamed and even swollen.
I was assured it would be ok so i gave it a go and applied it for the first time just before she went to bed. To my surprise, the next morning for the first time her little face didn't look just as firey and so I was over the moon! I continued to apply the cream and within a couple of days the red patches had almost disappeared and you could just see her pretty face again and not the awful red blotches. As soon as they had faded I stopped using the cream as like I say I was worried what it would do to her skin.
To use this cream you simply apply a very small amount to the affected area, probably less than a pea size, and rub in gently until it is fully absorbed. Apply two or three times a day and when healed stop using the cream straight away.
There are some possible side effects as with all creams and these include: skin irritation eg burnning, itching and redness, thinning of the skin, and changes in skin pigmentation. It is important to note that you must not use this cream on children under the age of ten unless directed to do so by a doctor.
I am not happy to contine using this cream every time my little girls face flares up and I will continue to press for a correct diagnosis but in the very short term it helps her so the odd time i will use it if it is particularly bad.
As it works I have to recommend it, but that comes with a warning not to use it too much as you can't be too careful with your skin! I give the HC45 Hydrocortisone Cream four out of five Dooyoo stars!
Thank you for reading my review :)
Summary: A good cream
