Advantages: You'll wake up one day and be a non-smoker

Disadvantages: They do not taste good and smell even worse.

I should have nothing good to say about Herbal cigarettes- they taste absolutely revolting and they smell utterly vile. I was accused on more than one occasion of smoking something illegal, so much so, that when I went outside of the pub/restaurant to have one I stated " I am going for a wacky baccy" Yes even though they are not real cigarettes- they still fall under the smoking ban.

No I certainly could not recommend them as a consumer choice- if that was what they were about I would say give them a very very wide berth.

But, here is the important bit- as bad as they were- they helped me give up smoking- I was a smoker for many many years and now I am not and so what more of a recommendation do they need.

When, as a smoker, I felt the overwhelming desire to put something into my mouth and set fire to it- then I reached for the herbals.

I used to light them, have as many puffs as I needed to allay my addiction and that was that. Giving up smoking is nothing short of a nightmare, and to be honest I don't think I could have done it without the help of herbal cigarettes. In fact even though I have given up for some time now, I still carry my part finished final pack of herbal cigarettes, in case something happens in my life that makes me want to reach for the dreaded weed. I haven't touched one for about 10 months now and hopefully will never need to again- but as I say carrying them is a security blanket.

The pack says the maximum period you should use them for is three months- it took me longer than that, but my internet research did not report any side effects and my Dr. said it was better that I continued with the occasional herbal rather than risk returning to normal tobacco.

I guess there might be some people out there who would think they tasted wonderful and salivated at the aroma- but as I say I am not one of them.

So if you are a smoker and have to go thru the withdrawal symptoms and know that you are going to die if you don't get your fix- maybe these might help you too.

My advice would be to buy a pack, but not to smoke one until you are climbing up the wall, fit to burst and ready to annihilate anyone that gets in your path- then reach for the lighter.

The ones I used were called NTB and I got them from my local Holland and Barrett at £2.00 for twenty. I found I preferred the Menthol flavoured packs.

Summary: Look upon them as an investment - they have saved me £thousands£

When I was giving up smoking I couldn't find herbal cigarettes anywhere. I even tried smoking oregano as an alternative (yuk!).
