Advantages: are easy to take

Disadvantages: don't really work.

I'm not the greatest of sleepers, anything can wake me up and then that's it for the rest of the night. Trying to drift off again is just a pointless exercise and there's no way I'd stand any chance of getting proper sleeping tablets. So herbal remedies, if that's what you want to call them, do seem to be the only solution. Trouble being is that Kalms is the only brand they have near me. And they don't work!

A greyish colour and about the size of a 5p they are easy to take, which is great for me as I despise the bigger versions. They also don't taste too bad which I think is down to the fact that they are sugar coated. A bit sweet.

They recommend that for adults 3-4 tablets should be taken about an hour before bedtime. That makes it a bit difficult if like me, you don't have a set time. A rough estimation is the best thing that you can do. For children under 12 they don't suggest you should give them these or for women who are pregnant, breast feeding or naturally, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

Of course you shouldn't really do any driving or working with some kind of machinery because if they do work for you, you could feel a bit drowsy.

The pack I bought contained 50 tablets and cost me about £4.30. For such a price it surprised me as they want you to take about 4 tablets, not going to take too long to run down. They are made out of natural plant ingredients:

Valerian powdered extract
Passiflora Powdered extract
Wild Lettuce Powdered extract
Vervain Powder
Powedered Hop Strobile
Sucrose

Personally that means absoloutly nothing to me. So even when I looked at the packet in the first place I didn't know if I was allergic to any of it or not. I didn't get any reactions so I guess the answer would be no.

When I did try these I'll admit that they did make me feel a bit tired but not for very long. I think from my first few attempts I slept for a few hours but then when I got woken up, I felt more wide awake than before. I still have no idea why that is. It isn't as if I drink tea or coffee too close to when I'm going off to bed. They also made me feel a bit ill in the morning.

Maybe I shouldn't of taken the recommended amount of tablets.

Despite the fact that it says that these will promote a refreshing and natural sleep all it did was knock me out for a bit, make me wide awake and then ended up feeling sick. Not exactly brilliant.

I can't say I'd recommend these as for me they didn't work. For that cost I expected a lot more and I haven't bought or finished another pack. For the time being I'm going to stick to my age old method of reading until the early hours of the morning. I'll fall asleep eventually.

Glad it's not just me - these things didn't work here either. Mind you, nothing much works when I'm having a bout of poor sleeping
