Advantages: Nice packaging, effective, easy to take, great value for money
Disadvantages: Hard pills + glass bottle = one heck of a racket in your bag!!
Like the description says they are supposed to 'relieve periods of worry, irritability, stresses and strains' and 'promote natural sleep'.
WHY DO I TAKE THEM?
I have suffered from depression for about 8 years and recently went through a very painful break-up which caused my depression to really flare up. I was reluctant to return to anti-depressants as in the past I've had lots of bad experiences with them so I decided to take some herbal supplements to try and take the edge of.
WHY DID I PICK QUIET LIFE?
I had tried Rescue Remedy in several forms in the past with varying success so I decided to try these which were considerably cheaper (£3.79 usually) and something I hadn't tried before. The packaging was really nice and it seemed like a lot of pills for the price (100).
THE PILLS
The pills themselves are smallish and pink with a sweet (probably sucrose) coating. They go down very easily (even without water which is handy if you find you need them in a hurry and don't have a drink close to hand). You are recommended to take 2 tablets twice a day and 3 at bedtime.
MY EXPERIENCE
I take these most days and have been for several months now. If I'm going through a low period I take them automatically when I wake up and then at lunch and in the evening. When I seem to be feeling better I don't take them unless I start to get upset or feel anxious.
I was incredibly surprised at the effectiveness of these little pills! I wasn't expecting much as I know herbal supplements don't always work and they seemed so cheap I thought they would probably have the sense(?!) to charge more for something that actually worked seeing as there is such great demand for effective anti-stress pills!
Shortly after the first couple of pills I noticed a difference! I was calmer, my heart was beating slower and I was definitely less jittery. With Rescue Remedy I sometimes get a little buzz (from the alcohol I guess) but luckily this doesn't happen with Quiet Life. They have also not made me drowsy or fuzzy at all.
ARE THEY ADDICTIVE?
As for people who have expressed concerns or worries that they might be addictive - I personally have a very addictive personality and having suffered from a chronic illness for a number of years I became addicted to some of my painkillers but have not had any problems with these. During the periods when I have felt better I have had no problems with not taking Quiet Life (either physiological or psychological) and don't even think about them. Of course if you are worried you might want to ask your GP or if you are taking them and feel that you are addicted then again, speak to your GP.
IN CONCLUSION
In case you can't tell - I'm a BIG fan of these little guys! I recommend these as something to try before taking stronger prescribed medication if you have reservations about hitting the hard stuff or to keep in the house for you to take if you experience infrequent bouts of stress or anxiety.
Of course these will only help you deal with the symptoms of your anxiety and not the source - less 'Quiet Life' more 'Quieter reaction to Life'!
Summary: Nice packaging, effective, easy to take, great value for money - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
