Advantages: Value for money, effective, natural

Disadvantages: None really

Quiet Life tablets are marketed as a "Traditional Herbal Remedy". They are available in packs of 100 tablets which cost around £3.79, and smaller bottles of 50 tablets which cost around £2. They are available from health food shops and stores like Boots, Superdrug and Savers. I usually get mine from Holland and Barretts.

They come in a glass jar, like a medicine jar, in a cream coloured box with a flower on the front. The active ingredients are motherwort, hops, passiflora, lettuce extract, valerian extract, thiamine hydrochloride, riboflavin and nicotinamide. The tablets also contain sucrose which makes swallowing them pleasant!

I first took Quiet Life when I was learning to drive. I was a very nervous driver, and one day when I had a mock driving test, I went completely to pieces; my instructor said, half-jokingly, that I should get some calming tablets! My housemate at the time had a bottle of Quiet Life she'd bought to help her through some exams and let me try them.

I did, and noticed the difference immediately. So did my driving instructor, who proceeded to recommend them to all her other nervous students! I was much more in control, much calmer, and was a much smoother driver. I didn't take two tablets twice a day and three at night, as the packet claims - I just took two before a driving lesson. I ended up passing my driving test first time, and I have no doubt Quiet Life helped me to do this!

The packet does say that the tablets may make you feel sleepy, and says that you mustn't drive or operate heavy machinery if this happens. Obviously this didn't happen to me, but if it happens to you it's probably best not to take them to help you through driving lessons!

The packet also says that you should take the tablets after meals. I was a bit naughty and found that taking them on an empty stomach meant that they worked faster, although they also made me feel slightly nauseous. I haven't suffered any ill effects because of this as far as I know, but it's probably best to stick with the instructions if you're worried.

Since first discovering Quiet Life I've always had a bottle handy and have used the tablets during stressful times at work and in my personal life. I find they really help me relax. I am quite a nervous and easily stressed person and having these tablets handy is really reassuring.

I have also recommended them to a few people: I suggested them to one colleague when she was learning to drive, and to another when she had to give a presentation at work. They were both really impressed!

These tablets are great - I would recommend them to anyone going through a period of stress or dealing with a nervous situation. Although I would say that if there is a chance you might be suffering from depression or anxiety you would be better off going to a doctor.

Summary: Great natural product
