Advantages: works very well

Disadvantages: the smell

Our little lad has had head lice on a few occasions since he started at primary school. He never moans about his head itching, we generally know he's got them if we see him scratching round the back of his neck or behind his ears. My other half is a bit bad with her eye sight so it's usually me who has the job of trying to see if they are there. He's had them about three times now. We've tried to use the Tee Tree lotion and the nit comb but we don't seem to be able to get rid of them all.

The doctor prescribed Lyclear Creme Rinse last time he got them and this is suitable for babies from six months old. Our little lad has eczema and is asthmatic so we were naturally a bit worried that the lotion might affect him but the doctor said it'd be fine.

We used the lotion and left it on for the ten minutes it recommended. It smells very strong and made the little lad cough a lot so we opened some windows to let the air circulate round him till it worked on his scalp. The lotion was medium consistency and white and there's also a nit comb which comes as part of the pack in the box, which was useful.

We rinsed it off and left his hair wet then combed through with the nit comb while his hair was still wet. We got a good amount of nits. His hair is on the long side so thery must've been hiding in there and we couldn't see them beforehand.

We applied more lotion the next day and then kept combing. This lotion works very quick at killing the nits and the live lice. It's also supposed to keep on working at killing htme off after the lotion has been rinsed off. We let his hair dry naturally as he's afraid of the hairdryer.

This stuff smells bad, really bad and it aggrivates the back of my throat so I'd be worried about using it on a baby but its good stuff as it works. We got it on prescription for him and we don't pay for them so I don't know how much it costs to buy over the counter.

Thoroughly recommened by both me and my other half.

Summary: effective lice treatment
