When I've come down with a cough, cold or flu, invariably a sore throat accompanies it and in those desperate times of need I reach for a box of tunes and turn to them to offer me some form of slight relief. I can cope with runny noses, fevers, the lot but I find sore throats to be one of the most painful ailments ever, when your tonsils swell up and the whole of your throat feels like it's on fire, not the happiest of times I'm sure you can agree. When I'm suffering like that you'll usually find me lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself, with a box of tissues on hand and a range of lozenges and various other remedies on standby. I'm picky when it comes to flavours .. Read the complete review

I had a horrible cold at the start of the year which left me feeling pretty miserable and run-down. At the time, I bought several over-the-counter medicines in a bid to try and help some of my symptoms. One of the worst symptoms I was suffering from at the time was a very dry throat, which felt quite tickly and scratchy. I felt that it was quite uncomfortable to talk (so I tended not to - much to my husband's delight..!!) as a result of my throat being so dry. I thought that using some sort of lozenge or throat pastille might help to alleviate these symptoms and make my throat feel a little more comfortable. I actually bought two types of throat lozenge ... Read the complete review

I'm sitting writing this review with a terrible sore throat and a blocked nose, a pile of tissues and a supply of Tunes. My review is about Tunes Menthol Throat Sweets. They cost 69p from Superdrug but I paid a bit more for mine as I got them from a garage. *The Packet* Tunes no longer come in a tube they are now sold in a little "cigarette style" packet. Its covered in plastic and has the same flip top opening as ciggie packs. This isn't too effective really, I found it kept coming undone in my handbag. Tunes is written across the front along with the flavour, in my case its Blackcurrant. They also do a cherry flavour. ... Read the complete review

Tunes have been around for ages, and like many, I remember the cheesy 80's ads for these throat sweets. I always remember buying them in a packet, and the sweets being square shaped, but they have undergone a reinvention in recent years with the new packet design, which reminds me of a ciggy packet! A box of Tunes will cost you about 70p from the local pharmacy or corner shop. The boxes are wrapped in cellophane to protect the contents, but once it has been removed you simply flip the lid to get at the sweets inside. The sweets themselves look a little different to their predecessors. They are a nice pleasing oval shape with a small dip in the top, ... Read the complete review

I've had a bad cold for about a week now with all the usual symptoms of a blocked nose, sore throat and a cough :( I ususally use soothers cough sweets when i had a cold but the shop had ran out so i just bought the nearest alternative availalable, these blackcurrant tunes. They are available in a two flavours including blackcurrant (the only ones i have tried) and cherry. I bought mine from my local corner shop for about 60p but you can buy them from pretty much anywhere that sells sweets like newsagents, supermarkets and chemists etc, i would imagine they cost around the same at all of these places. The tunes come in small square box and contains ... Read the complete review
