Advantages: Easy to use, helps keep off cravings
Disadvantages: Price
When I quit amoking 2 1/2 years ago I tried a number of different things to help, I was wearing the patches for the first week (see previous review) and I also using the chewing gum which I didn't like and the inhalator. I bought the inhalator from the local supermarket and it cost about £18 at the time for 42 catridges and the actual device.
The inhalator comes packaged in a silver and purple box which is quite a nice combination of colours, it shows a picture of the device in the top left hand corner and the name of the product on the front. On the back of the box you have some useful information such as "the inhalator is used to relieve and/or prevent withdrawl symptoms and reduce cravings when you try to stop smoking or when cutting down the number of cigarettes that you smoke."
The cartridges are suitable for adults and children over 12 to use although if you are pregnant you must consult your doctor before using this product, if you have lung disease apparently you may struggle to use this product. The inhalator itself is made with 2 pieces of plastic, mine was black but there are other colours available. The two pieces of plastic screw into each other and the cartridge sits inside. One end of the inhaltor is circular and one end is flatter which is the bit you place in your mouth and use to inhale.
The cartridges come in foil backed plastic packets which hold 6 cartridges each, each cartridge contains 10mg of nicotine aswell as menthol, the packs are a good size to slip in your pocket or handbag. The cartridges are small circular tubes with foil covers at each end, when placed in the inhalator the foil is pierced for the product to be inhaled. The cartridges are yellow in colour but can be seen through and there is a small sponge looking bit in the middle of each one.
I found the inhalator very easy to use, putting the cartridges in was easy and inhaling was just the same as smoking, the taste of the product is not the best but it is bearable, you can tell when a cartridge is finished easily as the taste gets weaker. The inhalator is comfy to hold and keeps your hands busy, I tended to use it on an evening when I would have sat smoking and watching TV. I used the inhalator for about 4 weeks in total and feel that this is the item that helped me the most whilst quitting and 2 1/2 years later I am still smoke free. I do believe you have more chance in quitting when using quitting aids than doing it on your own.
Summary: Keep the hands busy so you don't light up
