Nicorette Inhalers

I had smoked for 11 years and had given up seriously three times when I decided it was time to try a Nicorette product of some description. I didn’t like the chewing gum and a friend had told me that with the patches on, you take in nicotine whether you like it or not, so I decided to try the inhaler.

I used to smoke 20 Silk Cut every day (5mg tar, 5mg nicotine) and was a little worried about hard it was going to be, but I planned a date to stop (about 10 days in the future) and bought a starter pack of inhalers at £5.99.

£5.99 buys an inhaler and 6 nicotine cartridges each with 10mg of nicotine in each. The instructions suggest that you use as many as you like, but shouldn’t use more than 10 cartridges per day. I only ever used 2 cartridges.

I carried it with me everywhere (you can be quite discreet about using it). I stopped using mine within 2 weeks of giving up and haven’t touched it since. I suspect that by doing so, I found that I did turn to snacking and did put on a little weight. Had I stayed with the programme, I suspect I would not have had to replace the cravings for nicotine with something else.

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to give up smoking. Not only have I used it successfully, but so have several of my friends (all of whom were heavier smokers than me). The inhaler was the only thing that stopped me from breaking my will and walking to the shop to buy cigarettes. It stopped me because when the craving got that bad, I dragged on the inhaler and the craving went away.

A 5 star product.

Update: Still not smoking and feeling great about it. I have now entered the terrifying ex-smoker phase of hating the smell of smoke in my hair after an evening in the pub! We did a count up the other day and betweent the two of us, we have saved £1800 so far. And that's only in 6 months. Scary isn't it?

Update: Still no
t smoking and now I only get cravings when I'm drunk but even so have not had a cigarette.

Medusa - lots of luck. It is worth it, even though it can be difficult. Another tip; get rid of all lighters, ash trays and fags from your surrounding areas (including car, house etc). If you are trying to give up, then mean it!

Thanks Motley for your opinion. I've been to the chemist today (having read your opinion last night) and bought a starter pack of Inhalaters. Whilst frantically smoking every ciggie in the house, in the hope that I'll be sick (teenage type avoidance method) I've got my new Inhalaters in the kitchen, waiting for the morning. I'll post another commentary, once I've given them a good go.

Inhaler, patches, chewing-gum, laser-therapy...nothing worked for me. Maybe I'm just a hopeless case....
