Advantages: IT WORKS!!!!!!, Saves you money

Disadvantages: Tastes foul

Everything was wonderful when I first met my husband except - I smoked like a chimney! He was very much into healthy living and sport, I was into drinking and smoking (well they do say opposites attract!). I carried on smoking for a while when we met but I knew he hated it. I used to feel awful kissing him as I knew that I tasted like an ashtray. I was also very aware of the stench of smoke that came from my clothes and hair. Suddenly he was forced to inhale my smoke and started to smell too - this was not fair on him. When we moved in together and he banned me from smoking in the house I knew I had to do something. At first I spent hours sitting on the patio like an urchin but with winter approaching it was getting colder and colder. I must admit I didn't want my house to smell of smoke either and I certainly wanted rid of those yellow fingers that I had acquired. Another thing was I felt very guilty about the cost of my habit, money was tight and I was spending it needlessly.

I tried willpower but I didn't have much! Every time I felt a little stressed I would rush out by a pack of 10 cigs smoke one and then feel terrible. I ended up throwing the other 9 away only to go through the whole scenario a few hours later - giving up was costing me a fortune.

In desperation I tried this gum and it worked!!! Not instantly but it did eventually work. It came in a pack of 30 and cost just under £6. I found it difficult to part with the money for chewing gum and I admit I would have much rather bought cigs. Now all you do is chew a square until you taste the nicotine - it is disgusting! Once you have got the taste stick the gum to your cheek or gum where the nicotine will quickly absorb into your bloodstream, satisfying your cravings.

If you feel the craving come back you can chew on the gum to release more nicotine. If you chew too much the taste becomes unbearable and I found it used to almost burn in my stomach.

>I analysed my smoking and realised it was very routine. I would have a cig when I got up, one on the way to work, one at morning break etc. So I substituted the cigs for the gum and made sure my hands were also occupied. I suggest sewing, reading a book -anything to keep them busy.

Gradually I noticed I was chewing the gum less and less after all there was nothing enjoyable about it. Within a couple of months I was off the gum too. Now I have had a couple of slip ups since, but only isolated incidents and I have not touched a cigarette now for over 3years!!! I feel much better although this took a while. I was amazed at the rubbish I coughed up when I stopped smoking, it took weeks to clear my chest. I don't smell anymore but I have put weight on - maybe this is just age I don't know.

My bank balance is also healthier too and my husband loves the fact that I'm no longer a fag ash! But I must admit I do still crave on a regular basis and I can't see that ever going away. If you are thinking of stopping smoking give this a try, I hope it works for you too

Thanks for reading.
