Advantages: Takes the sting out of the cravings!

Disadvantages: Itchy and very difficult to get out of the packet!!

Have been on and off smoking for most of my adult life. Started using these patches when I joined a Give Up Smoking club and got them on prescription. They worked well and I gave up smoking for 8 years. Ashamed to admit that during a difficult time, I started again a year ago. I am now back on the patches and find they help a great deal. They take away the craving and stop me eating quite so much and feeling irritable, but they don't takle the depressed feeling that starts in the first 6-8 weeks. I am using stage two as the stronger ones made me feel quite ill. I find the patch itches when I first apply it, but this subsides. The other side effect I don't like are the vivid dreams I have. My partner laughs at the marks I have all over my back from the glue left by the patches. I hope this time I will quit for good - have started running and cycling to keep fit. I buy my patches from Tesco as they seem to be the cheapest at £12-£13 for 7 patches - sounds expensive but much less than 7 days worth of cigarettes! Fingers crossed!

Summary: Very effective, discrete subsidy for a horrible habit.
