Advantages: It works
Disadvantages: The lice aren't good
Nitty gritty Nit Free Comb
A couple of weeks ago, i felt compelled to try almost every product on the market when I found some of the dreaded head lice in little Miss's hair. While I was treating it with one of the products, someone suggested this comb, so i decided to give it a go in the weeks interim between one application of the spray and the next... a kind of mid week fix!
The comb proclaims itself to be the winner of the Daily telegraph family Friendly Award and comes with a lifetime guarantee. When I take the comb out of the plastic packaging (scissors required) there is a short message congratulating me on purchasing the best comb in the world!
WHY SO GOOD?...
The comb promises to get everything out, not just the head lice but nits and eggs as well (I thought the nits were the eggs).
The comb also comes with a lifetime guarantee and if you break it, you just send the broken comb and you will receive a new one.
As well as all of this it promises to be:
* Pesticide free
* Non rusting
* Kind to children
This sounds like a bit of a wonder comb to me!
PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...
As I mentioned before, the comb comes in thick plastic packaging so does reuire scissors for release. There are instructions and commendations all over the cardboard which is within the plastic packaging, so i know exactly what to do with it.
The comb itself is stainless steel and much more sturdy than the combs which can easily and cheaply be bought and those which are found in boxes with various solutions. Because it has a large circular base, it is easy to hold, so you can get a real grip on it whilst doing the combing. It's the teeth which I believe are the innovative bit, They are longer than I have seen on other combs, and have a nice rounded end so they don't rip through the scalp. Around each tooth is a micro spiral groove- raised spirals all the way down the length of the teeth. These spirals are the things which will effectively attach anything attached to your hair.
USING IT...
Given how complex some of the products are, this is very simple:
* Apply conditioner to wet hair; we used tea tree to be extra vigilant
* Part the hair into sections- the time consuming part if the "victim" has long hair
* Comb through each section
* Remember to clean the comb between sections
It's also important to remember that using the comb on dry hair is ineffective.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...
Available online at www.nittygritty.co.uk along with other products. The comb can also be purchased at chemists and supermarkets.
Having read the information on the website i believe that it can also be acquired on prescription although i haven't heard of anyone getting one, but it's worth a try.
The comb costs around the £10 mark but with a life time guarantee that's not bad at all.
VERDICT...
This comb does exactly what it promises. It's easy and comfortable to use, unlike some of the other combs which are so flimsy they hurt after a while. The nice rounded ends make sure Little Miss's scalp is intact at the end of the combing, and the comb really does expel all crawly things.
Thankfully we seem to have expelled the blighters but writing this is making me itch
Thanks for reading
