Advantages: Cheap Disadvantages: Unprofessional, cheap, tacky, poor customer support high staff turnover
In 2002 the company I worked for (The Eye Clinic) was bought out by Optical Express, thereafter I stuck the job for five months before leaving but in the time that I worked for OE I can honestly say that I have never seen such unprofessional service from any provider in my life. Where once we had electronic diaries manned by a 30 strong call centre team, we were reduced to one paper diary per store. In the case of the branch where I worked (Newcastle) we had seven opticians working simultaneously with all of their appointments being booked in a single paper diary shared by two telephone operators, and five floor walkers. In the five months I was there we lost 30% of our customers. The in-house designer range of spectacles was replaced with a vastly inferior range which generated an unprecedented level of complaints. Of course with the loss of the customer support centre no body handled these calls. Their posting service is run from a warehouse in Cumbernauld where the staff are paid so low and the turnover is so high that they don’t care about getting the orders right. Which leads to so many people never receiving their contact lenses. Summary: Having worked for OE I would nenver use them |
