I decided to change my opticians to Optical Express are they are nearer to my home and more convenient to get to, and I was of the opinion that all opticians were much of a muchness.

When I made an appointment in March, they were running a 3 month free trial for disposable contact lenses which is what I needed, as I have been using then for the last 3 years.

The optician who carried out the sight test was very friendly and when he had worked out my prescription, he asked me to try out the lenses in his presence in case I had an adverse reaction or needed help putting them in. I thought this was great and was really pleased that I would leave the shop with my lenses in............OH NO! I had to take those lenses out in the shop and dispose of them as my lenses would take 3 weeks to come into the shop as they had to be ordered. I was disappointed to say the least, and what a waste of a pair of lenses.

6 weeks later(after a delay in supplying the lenses) in the middle of April I finally began my 3 month trial. You can then imagine my surprise when 3 weeks later in May a direct debit payment which should have been debited in July was taken from my bank. I called the shop and they explained the debit was taken 10 weeks after I signed up for the trial. I was most unhappy, and this turned to annoyance when 10 days later another debit was made from my bank. I called the shop and was told the manager I had spoken to had left the company, so I had to explain the story to the new manager all over again. He assured my no more money would be taken until Septemeber, as my free trial was up in July and then July and August payments had already been taken. I said that this was not acceptable and did not want to carry on with the trial as I had no confidence in the company.

It was now 13th September, and still I had not had a refund! The company claimed they had sent me 3 months worth of lenses and solutions for some reason, and to date my local
branch (Gateshead Metrocentre) is onto it's 8th Manager since March.

Poor service from a poor company!


***UPDATE**** I finally got a refund on 27th September, but it was for the wrong amount! The company also accused me of hiding the lenses and solutions they sent, as when I explained I had never received them, the lady said, "Well there must be a mountain of them somewhere, due to the amount of people who never receive them!"

Use this company at your peril.

They said I could have carried on with the trial, but they would always be 2 months ahead with the payments!!!!
Apparent ly the managers left to go to other companies!
