Quies Foam Earplugs
Advantages: Pretty colours, good price and are up to the task
Disadvantages: Do not come in different sizes so small eared folk may struggle
My job often involves me having to work nearby heavy duty machinery for long periods of time outdoors and as such I was advised to wear ear plugs whenever possible to protect my ears. I generally tend to avoid putting them in so as not to miss out on any gossip or phone calls, but if I am working alone I use them.
The ear plugs come in a pack of three, with different colours for each pair. The colours are green, orange and pink and are almost a neon shade of each and are glow in the dark which is handy if you drop one in a dark place! The ear plugs come in a small and compact see through plastic box that folds open like a suitcase. This case has the Quies branding on the front and a gent with his fingers in his ears looking to be in some pain and discomfort! Instructions are included briefly on the back and inside the case. It is a great storage box for the ear plugs as it keeps them safe and most importantly clean!
The ear plugs are quite small, stodgy and squidgy, being made of foam material they tend to mould to your ear hole shape. To use these you simply hold them between your thumb and forefinger and insert them into your ear hole until they are far enough in to stay and feel secure. You should not push the plugs too hard or far into your ears as this will cause you pain and discomfort and for long periods of use will be unbearable.
My ears are pretty small and I struggle with things like headphones staying in place, particularly when I am walking or working. These ear plugs are great because they mould to the inside of your ear, being made of memory foam, and slightly expand to hold them firmly in place. I wouldn't say that they stay in my ears 100% of the time but I am not struggling with them constantly either so for me that is a result.
Do They Work?
On a construction site as you can imagine there is constantly heavy duty machinery and tools on the go other than on break times. These ear plugs once inserted definitely block out a large amount of this noise and muffles the rest. They are also very good for keeping out dust and dirt that can be an issue on site. Their noise protection rating is 35dB, which I believe to be a good rating. Ear Plugs are a very personal preference but I have found most of my work friends buy these Quies ear plugs.
This is the only brand of ear plus I have used and they were recommended to me by a colleague and I have found them to be great for the job and am not planning on trying another brand in the near future. The price is good at about £3.50 for three pairs from Amazon.co.uk and they are reusable, it is your choice as the wearer as to when you feel they need changing!
Summary: A great priced set of nice looking ear plugs! I will keep buying
