Advantages: Tasty, convenient , good value

Disadvantages: Sometimes doesn't mix as well as it should, maybe a bit too tasty!

Now first of all I am going to take a moment to say a little bit about me, it's my review so why shouldn't I? The first thing you should know dear reader is that I am not a bodybuilder or even that interested in putting on lots of muscle, though it is a nice side benefit to my training. I run, cycle, swim and do MMA plus some weight training that is appropriate to those sports. Therefore the following review will not be a rundown of how much my biceps have expanded, or indeed any part of my anatomy.
The second thing you should know is my stance on supplements in general. I have been training for many years now in various sports but only in the last couple of years have I started using protein powders. The reason for this is that when I was younger and living with the parents, food always seemed available and I had far less to do with my time (those were the days.) Therefore grilling myself some chicken or making up some tuna was what I would do. Fast forward a few years and money is a little tighter, and my free time is a little more valuable so protein became a useful alternative to making a post workout meal.
Over the couple of years I have been using protein I have used a number of products, the market is obviously booming and as a result there are hundreds of products available, each making outrageous claims and backing those claims up with equally outrageous statistics. I found the most important things to look at in a protein powder are: taste, mixability, value, and probably most important, how your body reacts to it. So these are the criteria on which I will rate my Reflex Instant Whey.

Taste
The flavour I chose was mint choc and I have to say it one of the best tasting drinks I have had, let alone protein. To be honest I would drink it if they sold it a milkshake. The flavour is refreshing, the mint cut through the chocolate perfectly, the best bit is that there is no aftertaste which I found to be a real problem in other supplements I have used in the past.

Mixability
I tend to make my drink with semi skimmed milk in a shaker doodad and for the most part I end up with a smooth, thin milkshake type drink with all of the powder dissolved. Occasionally however, whether it due to the temperature of the milk, or the shaker having something in it, or because the moon is at the wrong point in the sky, the powder refuses to blend properly and I end up with small lumps which stick in the shaker and in my teeth and are really quite unpleasant. This is quite rare but I have not idea why it happens.

Value
I buy my Reflex instant whey from the company website, it is slightly more expensive there than some other protein stores online but both times they have delivered the next day for free and do not try to sell you more stuff like some cheaper places do. I worked it out that a tub equates to around 40p a serving, which, if you compare to eating a tin of tuna or piece of chicken, is not that bad. As you can see on the nutritional information below, this powder is 80% protein which a good amount and means you can use a less, depending on your goals.

How your (or rather my) body reacts to it
The first thing I should say is that this protein has given me no problems in the old tummy department at all. This has been a problem with some supplements I have taken in the past (even the more expensive brands.) therefore it gets a big thumbs up from me (and my poor girlfriend!)
On a more savoury note and bearing in mind what I said before about my views on supplements, I have noticed gains in muscle but to be completely honest, and as said before I would get the same benefits from eating some fish/chicken after my weights session. However as a convenient, tasty alternative to this, Reflex instant whey is the best option I have found thus far, and the product I will be sticking with for the foreseeable future.
