Advantages: Tooth-friendly, tastes great, handy packaging

Disadvantages: Expensive

I have never been a fan of chewing gum and dislike the idea of, what seems like, a piece of flavoured rubber that loses its taste quickly in your mouth and then leaves you chewing like a cow chews cud until you can find a bin. Moreover, I went through a bout of braces and retainers due to my orthodontic treatment and always found it would get caught in my teeth. I do like mints but most are very sugary and bad for your teeth even if your breathe does smell a little more acceptable afterwards. But what if you're like me and need something to keep your breath fresh? And what if you don't want to look overly vain by carrying around a bottle of breath freshener of which many brands taste vile anyway?
I've been buying Smints for a long time now and always try to have a packet on me wherever I go (You never know when you might get a good old snog ^_^). Produced by the Chupa Chups company, these mints are not only sugar-free but profess to actually be good for your teeth. It contains xylitol, a sugar substitute. I got bored and wondered what on earth xylitol was. I mean, is it in anyway good for your body? Wikipedia actually told me that it is actually good for fighting infections such as that of the ear. Random fact of the day I suppose. Anyway, DO NOT go and wolf down a whole packet of 30 now your ear is feeling a bit sore again. Smints do produce laxative effects if too many are consumed.
However, if consumed in moderation, these tiny little white mints really do freshen up your breath excellently for a while and only one is needed unless you have particularly bad halitosis. It's also nice to know that your teeth are not being badly effected. Some brands even profess to whiten your teeth and these come in varieties of fresh mint, strong mint, strawberry and blackberry. I've tried both of the mint types and I haven't really noticed any change in the colour of my teeth. But I don't reckon these are supposed to be some miracle sweet that leaves your gnashers Simon-Cowell-white. There are other brands that are not intended to whiten. These include:

~Spearmint
~Peppermint
~Winter Ice
~Liquorice
~Lemon
~Peach
~Wild Berry

I have tried Peppermint, Spearmint, the Winter Ice and the Wild Berry one. All Smint types I have tried taste excellent, especially the Wild Berry which is really quite yummy and left my last boyfriend commenting on how nice my mouth tasted.
The packaging is small enough to pop into your handbag for a night out which makes it particularly handy. The packaging is also very sturdy and the button lever means that the mints stay within it.
As for the calorie counters, I don't think there's anything to really worry about. It's only a 6g packet after all.
I suppose that people may complain about the price of it. I have never gotten it cheaper than 90p and had to pay £1.10 for it at a newsagents once. However, I think the price is worth it because each mint leaves your breath fresh for ages, tastes great and is good for your teeth.

Summary: Handy for keeping your breath fresh all day round.
