Advantages: Quite powerful minty flavour for such a small mint and they dissolve in your mouth
Disadvantages: I can't say they are exactly a pleasent flavour
My mum had a large box of packs of SMINT and gave me a pack free so I can't say I buy these often but looking up the price they cost around 72p for a 8g plastic box dispenser containing 40 pastilles. The container is a dark green and the flavour of the mints I had recieved was peppermint but there are other flavours in different colour containers such as Mint, Spearmint, Winter Ice and fruit flavours such as Lemon, Peach, Wildberry but I can't say I have see many of these other flavours around.
There is a website called www.smint.com with lots of information on the mints which is listed on the back of the container.
Apparently they are toothfriendly and have been tested. They are described as "The breath freshening mint that's good for your teeth." They also contain something called "Xylitol" which is supposed to be a sugar substitute according the the container infomation.
The ingredients are :- Sweetners (Xylitol (90%), Aspartame), Maltodextrin, Flavour, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil. Contains a source of phenylalanine
The container the mints come inside is a really handy container. This is because unlike normal mints that you have to unwrap and possibly loose some falling out, this is a handy dispenser that you just press the white bit down at the top and out of the bottom a mint falls out. They're abit like sweetners dispensers if you want a comparison.
The mints themselves are quite strong. They remind me of toothpaste with the intense strong minty flavour. I think I would prefer these to polo's because they don't have the sweet minty flavour but a much more refreshing minty flavour that overwhelms the tongue where the mint touches. I don't think you would really want to have more than one in a short space of time but I think that they are handy for a quick mint after you have had a drink or a meal to freshen your breath. I still prefer chewing gum though. The smints are decribed as pastilles they are basically a hard texture that you can't really chew although I suppose you could crunch them but then they get stuck in your teeth. They are small and triangular shaped with the letter S on both sides.
My overall opinion is that I wouldn't want to buy these myself but as they were going free I didn't pass up the offer but I think I would prefer to stick to my tried and tested chewing gum.

Summary: Ok if they're really cheap & on offer or given to you free but not my choice for mints
