Advantages: Natural way to have a high intake of iron,

Disadvantages: expensive, tastes awful on it's own.

Spatone is a mineral supplement for Iron. It comes in a box with 28 sachets of water that it naturally high in the mineral Iron. I am prone to anaemia and I don't really eat much red meat. I had previously been taking the tablet form prescribed by my GP, I believe it is called Ferrous Sulphate. The problem with these tablets was it would give me stomach problems. This is a very common side effect to most Iron supplements taken in a tablet/capsule form.

I have found that with Spatone it is gentle on the stomach and does not really cause any side effects. However if I take it daily then it does sometimes effect my stomach but still on a very less scale then the alternative iron supplements I have taken.

It is easy to use and can be used by both children over 2 years old and adults. You open a sachet and pour it in a glass and then mix with a juice, preferable a juice high in Vitamin C to aid the absorption into the body. I have noticed that I will need a high amount of juice and to drink the mixture quickly otherwise the strong taste of the supplement can be tasted. Spatone on it's own would taste awful as I am guessing it has a very metallic taste to it as sometimes if I do not mix enough juice I can taste it.

Spatone is quite expensive for a Iron supplement costing £8. It is on offer in Boots quite frequently for 3 for 2, so that is a good time to stock up if you require this.

The best thing about Spatone is that it is 100 percent natural, as it is water obtained that is naturally very high in Iron that only a small sachet can provide us with our recommended daily allowance of iron. Therefore it does not really feel like a supplement but perhaps a part of a good daily diet to include this drink. It is ideal for those that are anaemic, vegans and vegetarians.

Summary: A good supplement
