Shoddy frames that break and have very short guarantees (Specsavers Opticians)

Advantages: The spectacles are very cheap (in more ways than one)

Disadvantages: They break very quickly (and so end up expensive in the long run)

The quality of the spectacle frames is very low indeed and Specsavers only supply a meagre six month guarantee. I bought a pair of glasses and also got the "free" pair of prescription sunglasses offered. The glasses frame broke after a year and I lost the sunglasses. I liked the glasses so got another exactly the same and another pair of the *free* sunglasses, ordering a new frame for my broken pair (£60 plus). Within a year two of these pairs were broken too. As I'd lost the lens of one pair when they broke (it was in the garden) I just got a new frame for the broken pair.... However, within another year these, and my original pair, had broken too and I had no Specsavers glasses left at all.

I was not happy. I took all the broken frames (5 pairs) into Specsavers who would not admit that there was any problem with the glasses even though they'd all broken in exactly the same place (where the nose bridge meets the lens rim). To add insult to injury they'd stopped making the frames so I was just left with a lot of useless lenses that didn't fit any other frames on the market.

It's a shoddy shop company that sells very cheap frames with exceptionally short guarantees and then seems to expect to be able to sell you pair when they break.

Avoid at all costs. I'm certainly not going back there again.

Summary: Avoid. Buy more expensive glasses that will last a lot longer.
