Advantages: Helpful and polite service
Disadvantages: Some delays and i didn't get an appointment for about a week
Specsavers is one of the biggest and well known opticians in the United Kingdom. Not only because they are a good place to go to get your eyes tested properly it is also well known for their "should have gone to specsavers" adverts which has become quite a popular phrase that people have remembered and use quite alot. I quite often say it when i see people with silly glasses.
I recently went to specsavers as i noticed tha my eyes were getting quite bad and my current glasses were not helping me see as good as they used to. I went to my local Specsavers in the town centre near where i live (only about 10 minutes away). I did originally book the appointment though their website and then 10 minutes later rang me back to give me a time for my appointment. Unfortunately the next appointment i could get was about a week later which was a bit longer then i was hoping for. Even so i agreed and turned up for my appointment a week later abit annoyed that it wasn't when i wanted it and it caused me a bit of inconvenience.
When i arrived i was quickly checked in and was given a little test before i was seen. I found the staff to be friendly and i was happy with the service i was receiving. I did then get told that the optician i was going to see was running a bit behind so i was told i was going to be seen 10 later then i was supposed to be which i wasn't too bothered about. It did turn out to be nearer 20 minutes though which i was bothered about as it did get boring reading the same newspaper numerous times in the waiting room trying to pass some of the time.
When i finally went in i found the optician to be very friendly and talkative although not too much that it was annoying but enough to break the silence and make me feel comfortable. The process itself took quite a while to do and he did check my eye in multiple different ways using different screens and then trying out a large number of different lenses to see which ones helped me see better. He also looked through my eye to ensure that i didn't have some sort of eye problem of some kind or something like that (he did tell me what he was looking for but i can't remember at the moment).
Afterwards he gave me my prescription for the glasses i would need and i was helped to pick the frames which i found helpful as it is hard to pick glasses on your own as you can really see what they look like properly so that was a great help.
I had to go back 2 weeks later in order to pick my glasses up from the shop and a lady was on hand to make sure they were ok and fitted alright and then explain all the extras like if i have any problems in the next 6 months i can come in and they will sort it out and so on like that then i was happily on my way being able to now see things properly and see things that i didn't know existed. You don't actually realise how much your eyes got worse until you get a pair of glasses.
Overall i was generally happy with the service i received at my local Specsavers store in Ipswich.
Summary: Really good service and friendly place to go...
