Advantages: Good friendly service

Disadvantages: None so far for me

I have had glasses since I was about 15. With a very low prescription, I always have my eyes tested regularly and I and my family have been going to the same branch of Specsavers for many years.

I do not remember my first trip when I was given my glasses and for years, didn't bother to wear them, They weren't essential and I was told only to wear them when my eyes felt tired.

Fast-forward 7 years, and I am still with the same branch of Specsavers. My eyesight has gotten slightly worse over the years and now I'm driving, I have to wear my glasses for this, as I am a little short sighted Making the opticians more important part of my life.

The branch I am reviewing is the Specsavers on Borehamwood high street.

The building itself is easy to find with the large and familiar green Specsavers logo on the door to guide you in. The shop is spacious and always sparkling clean. (I would imagine this is a pain to maintain with all the mirrors dotted about for trying on your frames) There is a large reception and I am always greeted in a friendly manor and have never been kept waiting more than a few minutes in the tidy sitting area.

Once taken in to see the optician you are sat in a small dark room, for privacy.

One of the things that I like most about my optician is that he is very down to earth, and explains things in a very simple, but non patronising way. This makes the whole experience more bare able, I don't know about you, but I am always slightly nervous before an eye test, I know it's silly but I swear they try to trick you with some of the "what's clearer, A or B" questions, And I always feel like it's a test I'm going to fail! Paranoia aside, the tests are always carried out quickly and efficiently.

As a brand Specsavers have had a large marketing campaign with their catch phrase "Should have gone to Specsavers" which I am sure we have all heard at some point. At the moment, they are still doing a 2 for 1 on all glasses. This was extremely handy for me as, at present, I only have one pair of frames, and since my prescription has changed (for the worse again I'm afraid) I needed new lenses. This would mean being without any glasses for a few days as they change them. So instead, I opted for the offer. I got 2 pairs of glasses with scratch resistant frames for £75, not too bad. I'm not a designer name chaser, and settled happily for a standard boring pair I'm used to, and went slightly wild with the second being a lot bolder, But as they were technically free. I threw caution to the wind.

The staff was helpful and honest when helping me pick my new specs and I did not feel pressured into buying anything other than what I wanted or wished to pay for. I had my eye test on Friday PM and will be going today on my lunch break (Tuesday) to collect my new glasses. I was told a few days, but being over a weekend I assumed it wouldn't be until tomorrow or Thursday. I received a polite call to say they were ready.

Overall I am very happy with the level and quality of service I have received from Specsavers over all these years and will be happy to continue using them in the future.

Thanks for reading :)
