Advantages: NONE!

Disadvantages: waiting, bad customer service, terrible eye care

I have been at Specsavers since I was around 4 or 5 as I had an operation on my eye and needed glasses. At the age of 14 i decided i wanted contact lenses and Specsavers were great. Until i went in for a contact lens 'check up' early this year. Usually i'm in there for 20 to 30 minutes and the optician would put orange dye in my eyes to check for dryness, ask me a lot of qestions to make sure nothing is wrong and give me a decent check up. This time, however, after waiting the usual half an hour plus to be seen by my optician, he asked if i had had any problems. I mentioned my eyes had seemed a little more sensitive to light. and that was it!!!! he said everything was fine and sent me on my way. No looking into my eye properly or checking for dryness. This annoyed me, but i soon forgot about it. Last week i had extreme discomfort after taking my lenses out one night and my eyes would sting and snap shut. it was awful. My eye wouldnt take a conact lens either. I went straight to specsavers who said they had nobody to see me but i needed 'emergency eye care' and sent me to an independant optician about a mile away! This optician told me my corneas had been starved of oxygen and i was to get a newer contact lens fitted to allow more oxygen into my eye.

I booked an appointment to get this done at Specsavers for today. After explaining what had happened to 3 or 4 members of staff, I was still asked repeatedly if i was there for a contact lens trial. I explained i had been wearing contact lenses for almost 7 years now.

Eventually an optician took me into one of the examination rooms, and asked me if i was there for a trial. I explained (again) my situation. He was rude and blunt. Told me (with my notes in front of him) that I didn't have one eye weaker than the other. I corrected him and told him my right eye was a lot weaker due to having my operation. He argued. I explained my eyes were unbelievably sensitive to light, he shined a bright light in them, which I know is necessary but then got annoyed that my eyes watered a lot and were trying to close. He then told me it was due to me wearing make up that my eyes hurt. And that I did not need new contact lenses, but he would order them in anyway but they would only tend to my eye with a stigmatism and not my other eye. This man was unbelieveably rude to me, did not listen to anything I said and gave such terrible service.

On the way out i noticed a customer service poster saying "It takes months to win a customer, and only a second to lose one"
I recommend they read their own posters and take some lessons in customer service. Terrible!

Summary: A waste of time and money, rude and obnoxious customer service
