Specsavers seem to get a love them or hate them reaction from the reviews I have read. Reports of lack of care, poor service and unfriendly staff are in evidence or, on the other hand, quite the opposite. There is probably good reason for this because as far as I am aware Specsavers is a franchise business so there is no reason for uniformity from one area to another. In the end it's all down to people, we judge a business by the people we come face to face with, don't we?
Personaly I don't have a problem with Specsavers having used them on and off for a number of years, I would put them middle of the road in my estimation; neither the best nor the worst. On the face of it they are cheap with their 2 for 1 deals but I recently tried to take advantage of this deal for new varifocals. That didn't work out for me because they realised I wouldn't be able to accept the lenses they were offering. This was because the glasses I was wearing (not from Specsavers) had very good quality varifocal lenses fitted so it was pointed out by the optician that I would find theirs well below par. So the deal that got me in was a none starter and the price they worked out based on comparable quality was pretty high. As it happens I got my glasses in Cyprus a couple of months later. Good quality came much cheaper there.
I must emphasis they did look after me as result of the range of tests that they carried out they referred me to hospital for further tests which all worked ok in the end. Didn't show them in a bad light in the care category though, did it?
