Advantages: absolutely none

Disadvantages: confusing to vulnerable customers

I have been wearing glasses since i was two years old,and i am now sixty. I recently visited a branch of specsavers to have new lenses put into my spare pair of glasses.I purchased both pair from the same branch six months ago but unfortunately scratched one pair badly. I paid £140.00 for both pair on a two for one offer. I should point out that the same offer was available on this visit. One of the assistants sat me at a desk to discuss my lens options and after fiddling with her calculator informed me that it would be £178.00 to put new lens in my frames. I realised immediately that she had done exactly what has become standard practice in all the major high street opticians.OFFER THE CUSTOMER THE TOP OF THE RANGE LENS FIRST. When i pointed this out and asked for the same lens that where in my glasses, she replied that my field of vision would not be as good with the cheaper lens. This type of practice is highly immoral. What they are in fact saying is that the more money you spend, the better you will see. This should not be allowed when dealing with peoples health. As a diabetic i have to be very careful with my eyes . This young girl did not attempt to inform me that i could have two new pairs of complete spectacles for £140.00. Neither did she inform me that i could use my over sixties discount to purchase new glasses.Specsavers should not say that this was an isolated incident as it is not the first or second time this has happened to me in their stores. It is common practice to put a glossy advert in the media saying two pair for £75.00 then sit you down and push all kinds of extras at you. This could be very confusing for some customers .Lets have some fair play SPECSAVERS. There is no place for pushy sales tecniques when dealing with peoples health. And would you believe that on the same day i was quoted £256.00 in another high street opticions to reglase the same glasses. Chris

Summary: Start with the cheapest option and work up

I have worked in the past for an optical retailer, be rest asured that Specsavers by far is the fairest in price and products, i know i have worked for some that would be happy just to take your money!Every buisness offerers the best quality first, thats why they call it a buisness, have you ever heard of the term "you get what you pay for" well even in health care this is true, it sounds to me that you have asked for the scrached lens to be replaced free of charge because you got them 6 months ago, and when they didn't do it you got angery, am i right????
