Advantages: Everything, great service.

Disadvantages: My eyesight.

I began to wonder recently why I had been buying books with smaller and smaller print. I then had a shock at work when I realised that I had written a clients notes in the wrong file. My wife who wears glasses suggested that I go for an eye test, yet as I had my latest 'eye surveillance' at the diabetic clinic in January, I was reluctant, however, in the interests of marital harmony I took myself off to Specsavers.

~~First Impressions~~

A modern, clean shop with very clear signage and staff that were actually smiling and seemed helpful.

A sales assistant/advisor asked what I wanted, I told her, then, shock of shocks, instead of telling me when I would be seen she actually asked WHEN I wanted to come in, good start.

~~~The Eye Test experience~~~
Okay, they were 15 minutes late in seeing me, however, at least they told me when I arrived that they were running a bit late.
There is a 'pre' test which is carried out before you see the optitian, again, very friendly and helpful.
The optician was very professional and explained each part of the eye test very clearly. I was impressed that all the equipment looked new and clean, the room was spacious and well decorated with nice, functional furniture, all in all I felt at ease.
Once I had the eye test proper I was told that my normal sight range was fine and that I would not need an eye test for another two years.
The final part of the test assessed my 'close sight', the reading test and whilst I read the sentences with little problem, I was astounded, by the revelation that the lenses the optition tried on me had.
I had not realised how bad my short sight was, the lenses he put on my eyes meant that the piece I was reading just came alive in front of me, it was nothing short of life changing. When I asked the optician what the hell was going on, he was calm and informative telling me that as we get older it is perfectly natural for this range of sight to get slightly worse.
He told me that I needed prescription reading glases and explained the process, gave the prescription to a sales assistant who asked me to choose a pair of frames.
~~~Getting the glasses~~~

I have never worn glasses before so was a little unsure at the very large array in the shop, I asked the sales assistant if there was any tips she could give me about choosing frames; she told me to take my time, try as many pairs as I liked and to come and let her know when I was ready....good stuff. I narrowed the glasses down to three pairs and went back and asked what she thought, to my surprise she told me that the pair that suited my face and head size best, were actually the cheapest of the three pairs, she was not at all pushing the more expensive pairs.

Once I had chosen the frames, the staff member was very clear about pricing and delivery times. I actually got a spare pair with tints, for nothing, 2 for 1.

The very next day my glasses were ready and the advisor tried them with me, checked everything was okay and was gain, very friendly and helpful.

~~~Finally~~~
I have nothing but good to say about the whole experience.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The service was efficient and clear.
The glasses were inexpensive and stylish.
I have no hesitation in recommending Specsavers to anyone, it really was a lot better than I thought and in todays shopping experience it was a real joy to shop somewhere where the staff really do seem to care and are helpful.
....and the bonus, apart from being able to read at night without any problems now...my wife thinks my glasses look sexy.
Summary: Specsavers.
I'm not loyal to any optical brand so this is a very useful review. C
If these are the glasses you have on on your profile photo, I agree with the assistant . . . it suits you perfectly!
