Advantages: Great Contact Lenses

Disadvantages: Dissapointing Service

Ive used Specsavers for many years now as I have needed Glasses since the age of eleven and Specsavers was the first place my mum took me too. Then since the age of eighteen I started also buying contact lenses from her.

So I am sure from the name or just general knowledge many of you can tell that Specsavers is an opticians and if you didn't know then you do now. They have the highest market share in the country and also the most amount of branches so are definitely very popular.

In terms of prices they are very competitively priced and to get an eye check it costs around £14 which is one of the cheapest you will find. If you are a student you can get the eye test for free which is a definite bonus. They have a large variation of specs available, all different styles and many different brand names. The majority of the branches are also two floors with the upper floor being strictly for contact lenses, and with the nation becoming much more self conncious the amount of people wearing contact lenses during the day instead of their glasses is increasing.

It is pretty easy to book an appointment, and this can be done by going into the branch or telephone and this applies to glasses or contact lenses. Once the appointment is done, they will inform you of your prescription and advise you on any type of specs you want. From here it is up to you to select the frame and any particular adjustements you want. They offer lots of extra services like trimming the lense for an extra cost if the lenses are big due to your high prescription.

What Specsavers for me is bad, is in the service at particular branches. Some branches are amazing and everyone is friendly and efficient, and then without naming any specific branches, there are others that are just plain lazy. Literally everyone who works there with the odd exception of maybe one or two employees will treat you with disrespect and might just chat amongst themselves whilst you, the customer, are waiting. The head office should really look into how they can improve this as they have lost a lot of customers, including me for the glasses. I would have left completely if it was not for their high quality great prices for the contact lenses that cant be matched elsewhere.

Overall I think they produce very good quality, but like mentioned above their downfall is in the service that is provided at some of the branches. If this was improved then Specsavers could focus on gaining more of the market share and start looking upwards once again.

Summary: Need to increase their customer service skills
