Specsavers - 2 for 1...do my eyes deceive me? (Specsavers Opticians)

Advantages: Great value, excellent range of frames, contact lenses at good price, helpful staff, nice stores

Disadvantages: Sometimes staff confrontational, records mis-placed on numerous occassions

Specsavers Opticians is the opticians I have now been using for the past 2 years or so as they have a local store in my town centre and I noticed their offer of buy one pair of glasses and get another for free.

My local Specsavers is a very busy store which has about 6 staff and offers a great range of glasses for men, women and children and across a variety of prices The store itself is very clean, bright and inviting with a great variety of price range for frames. I normally purchase from is the £125 frames whereby I get 2 pairs of complete glasses for £125 which is excellent value as the glasses are very well made and you they are ready for you in a fairly quick turnaround (normally about a week but they can be done quicker if you make a point of asking them and letting them know your reason for needing them quicker).
I get my eyes tested for free when I visit the store and find their methods of testing to be good and the staff are very helpful and honest (I have astigmatism amongst other problems).
The staff in the front of store are very helpful and offer advice on glasses styles which I have found to be really good on my visits and it is thanks to this that I have returned to them on numerous occassions.

But is it all good in my experiences? Well unfortunately not as I have had times where I have gone in to collect my wifes contact lenses and been told they have mis-placed her records and to come back later (on 3 seperate occassions this has happened) which I am always shocked at.
I have also had a situation where I was told glasses would be ready for me on a set date but when I went to collect them I was advised the lenses sent were the wrong ones and there was nothing they could do and it would be at least another 3-4 days for my glasses to be ready...I was not happy with the staffs attitude and asked for my glasses to be delivered so when I got a call to say my glasses were ready I made a phone call and spoke to the store manager who decided it was not acceptable so she offered to give me a free pair of prescription sunglasses with any frames I chose which in the end meant I got sunglasses worth £125 for free so I was glad to see the service was important to them and they advised my custom was valued.

Positives:

- Great selection of glasses
- Excellent value for money (especially with the 2 for 1 offer)
- Fairly quick turnaround on glasses being made
- A personal feel to the service
- Great eye tests with honest information given
- Phone call to advise glasses are ready or contact lenses have arrived
- Friendly and helpful staff
- Customer satisfaction important

Negatives:

- Records mis-placed regularly
- If errors made staff can be quite confrontational

I have recommended Specsavers to others as despite all of my issues with them I still find them to be excellent with their help and service (apart from one issue) and the items on offer are to my liking with a great variety on offer and exceptional value on offer.
