Advantages: One optician knows what they are doing.
Disadvantages: everything
I had my eye test in May 2012, and my prescription for reading glasses had gone up a lot since 2011 or so I was told. New glasses ordered and when I went to collect them had that strange sort of dizzy sensation when trying them on. I was told I would get used to them.
However, I soon found I could not read a newspaper without bringing the top half very close, reading the bottom half was fine.
Magazines were the same, the top half blurred out of focus. I returned to the Kettering, Northants store and the glasses were not even checked, I was told 'if you can't see it then move it closer' and 'try moving your head, not your eyes' Unbelievable! So I persevered with not being able to see properly but then went back to Specsavers.
Another optician re tested me and found my prescription was totally wrong, the distance was also wrong. No wonder I couldn't read at arms length or less!
So new lenses ordered and glasses collected and all is well. But this is the second time this has happened. In 2011 exactly the same problem, wrong prescription but quickly spotted by a different optician in the same branch. Once could be a mistake, but twice? No apology, customer service a joke. Upon collecting glasses an apology woul have been nice, but nothing, just a quick 'try those, are they ok now?' and that's it.
Summary: would not recommend.
