My Review is about Specsavers in MOTHERWELL, North Lanarkshire
Author Name: halfpint
Advantages: Nearer my home
Disadvantages: The Staff( some of them)
I have worn glasses all my life, my mum even had to tie a ribbon onto the glasses to keep them on my face. So obviously I have been to many opticians during my 40+ years, never been to a chemist that just doesn't work for me, I do know and understand that they are trained(probably better than the Motherwell Specsavers lot) so my story goes back to February 2011, I was to be Married in the March so wanted a new pair for my wedding, my husband to be and I went into the store seen a Asian ophthalmologist female, had our eyes tested and picked frames at the time there wasn't a lot of choice, so we wanted them coated and reaction lenses as we did find them great the previous years.
I felt dizzy every time I turned and felt I couldn't focus on one item at a time, my husband to be sometimes felt he couldn't see his dash board(he is also my carer as I suffer from MS) and is clearly marked against our records.
This particular day we were in Motherwell and decided to go in as I was having bad headaches too, I had my glasses changed without any problem and my soon to be husband was given another eye test, It turned out the optician never tested him as a driver he was only tested normal procedure, (no wonder he couldn't see it instruments on the dash board, he was never tested to that fact. So anyway our wedding day arrived and I still felt I was under water and dizzy!! but managed through the day, I did keep saying I can't read with these new glasses and couldn't focus on the tv either, went back in to explain what had been happening with me, to be face with one of most obnoxious females I have ever came across (long black hair and a very loud mouth, her voice carried to the door everyone heard her telling me how I should wear my glasses, I said to her in my normal quiet tone "Look I have been wearing these all my life, don't tell me what way I should wear glasses, I also said that they felt pretty heavy, once again her loud annoying tones carried down the shop, the manager finally gave me a refund and I swore I will never set foot in that Motherwell store again, not as long as they have the same staff in there, there was a lovely young girl who couldn't do enough for you, but No to her colleague, she has totally wasted that store.
I also know that I am not alone in this matter, someone advised me to try the Parkhead Branch in Glasgow, it's the same company but what a difference with the staff" I had a good morning and how are you, how can they help me today, all FIRST CLASS SERVICE, and on top of that MY PRESCRIPTION WAS WRONG APPARENTLY I HAD BEEN GIVEN THE ONES MEANT TO READ WITH , THEY WERE MY EVERYDAY SEEING ONE(i KNEW THE DIFFERENCE AS I GOT THE REACTION LENSES FOR THEY ONES) AND MY READING ONES WELL THEY WEREN'T MY PRESCRIPTION!! so MOTHERWELL BRANCH GET SOME TRAINING FROM THE PARKHEAD BRANCH, and you may be up to there standard, I really do doubt that though. You should've went to Specsavers GLASGOW BRANCH, NEVER GO TO MOTHERWELL SPECSAVERS, unless you like being treated like dirt.
Summary: Don't go to Specsavers especially the Motherwell Branch) try another one, at your own risk.
