Advantages: Helps with symptoms of PMS and many other things

I first started to take Starflower oil after a recommendation from my sister, who in turn had been recommended it by her dermatologist. She suffers from severe eczema and she swears by it, but Starflower oil also has many other uses.

It is very similar to Evening Primrose oil in that it contains GLA (Gamma Linolenic acid), an essential fatty acid that is naturally produced by the body. Many people have inadequate levels of essential fatty acids, reasons for this include the increased consumption of processed foods, glucose intolerance and ageing. Starflower oil is roughly twice as strong as Evening Primrose oil meaning you can take a smaller dose.

One of the main uses for Starflower oil is to help regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). It can also help with lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol, reducing water retention, reducing inflammation of joints in arthritis sufferers, and weight loss. It is also known to help strengthen your hair and nails and keep your skin clear.

I have always suffered with PMS so this was the overriding reason for me trying this supplement. I was also interested to see if it would have any effect on my hair, nails and skin too.

Having taken it for just over a month the results are brilliant! The week leading up to my period is usually a struggle to say the least. Typical symptoms include moodiness, bloating, breast tenderness, fatigue and just a general feeling of melancholy. But this time around I felt great: no breast pain what-so-ever, drastically reduced bloating and my moods were a lot more stable. I had more energy than usual and felt upbeat.

Both my hair and nails have had a massive growth spurt (which is great as I am currently growing my hair) and they do look increasingly healthy. As for my skin, there has been an improvement there too. It was mainly my skin tone that I had a problem with and I can see that it is less blotchy and smoother already. I think I will see these benefits increase more the longer I take it.

The only downside so far is that they are quite expensive and were it not for this I would have given it five stars. I do believe it is well worth the money you pay though.

Also this supplement is not suitable for everybody and should be avoided if you are taking blood-thinning medication, have temporal lobe epilepsy or are pregnant.

Summary: Simply brilliant!
