This tens machine is specially designed for all three stages of motherhood. This is not a product that you can hire; this has to be purchased due to the three uses of the machine. It can help you during pregnancy to ease back pain, during childbirth for drug free pain control and afterwards to help tone abdominal muscles back into their prior shape. It can also help with any back pain that may still exist after childbirth. Due to the fact that I was induced and didn't experience labour (I had to have an emergency caesarean section) I could not comment on how effective it was during childbirth personally. If you are using it for this purpose, ... Read the complete review

I read about TENS machines in various pregnancy magazines and decided that I'd like to try one when I went into labour. I saw an advertisement for Boots saying that you can hire them. I went in to book one, paid my money (about £25 I think - and I got Boots points on it too!!) and went back 2 weeks before my due date to collect it. It was quite small and easy to use and when I gave it a trial run it felt like lots of small needles tapping my skin, not pleasant but not painful either. I wanted to have a fairly natural birth and thought TENS was a good option, as it's supposed to release the body's natural pain killers - endorphins. ... Read the complete review

TENS machines come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes but they all do the same thing and that is to use electrical pulses to trick your mind into believing that the pain you are experiencing isn't as bad as it really is. They are great for labour and I have also heard of them being used for back pain too. You can buy them but I hired mine because I knew the likelihood of me using after my pregnancies was probably slim. I know that Mothercare hire them but I got one from my local Pharmacy for around £15. I had to pick it up when I was 38 weeks and return it when I had my baby. I liked the idea of returning it when I wanted because I knew for a start ... Read the complete review

When I was pregnant with my son I decided I wanted to try and have as natural delivery as I could manage. It was my first pregnancy and I was realistic enough to know that I would not be able to cope with no pain relief at all. I therefore hired the mama-tens TENS machine from Mothercare at £29.99 for four weeks. Luckily they offered a free 2 week extension as I ended up being 16 days over due and needing to be induced. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and works by delivering small electrical pulses to the body via electrodes placed on the skin, that is thought to help ease pain. The electrodes are placed in two positions on the ... Read the complete review

This review is about a TENS pain relief Unit though not the model as pictured. When the Dooyou team provide the correct link, I'll have it transferred over. A photo of the unit covered here can be found at www.lloydspharmacy.co.uk I'd always associated TENS with drug free pain relief in pregnancy and then I saw an advert on TV with Lloyds Pharmacy offering a TENS machine for £14.99. I was surprised to discover that it purports to give temporary pain relief for a host of other ailments such as back pain, sciatica, sports and muscle related injuries. Having suffered with shoulder pain following a car accident a few years ago, I thought I'd give ... Read the complete review
