This tens machine is specially designed for all three stages of motherhood. This is not a product that you can hire; this has to be purchased due to the three uses of the machine. It can help you during pregnancy to ease back pain, during childbirth for drug free pain control and afterwards to help tone abdominal muscles back into their prior shape. It can also help with any back pain that may still exist after childbirth. Due to the fact that I was induced and didn't experience labour (I had to have an emergency caesarean section) I could not comment on how effective it was during childbirth personally. I read about TENS machines in various pregnancy magazines and decided that I'd like to try one when I went into labour. I saw an advertisement for Boots saying that you can hire them. I went in to book one, paid my money (about £25 I think - and I got Boots points on it too!!) and went back 2 weeks before my due date to collect it. It was quite small and easy to use and when I gave it a trial run it felt like lots of small needles tapping my skin, not pleasant but not painful either. I wanted to have a fairly natural birth and thought TENS was a good option, as it's supposed to release the body's natural pain killers - endorphins. ...

About six years ago, I fell down a stairwell onto a concrete floor and damaged my spine permanently. I have had endless treatment, although I believe that over the years, back pain is one thing that never really goes away. I also believe that having suffered a serious injury to the back, the problems of age do exaggerate back problems, and over the past six years, this really has been proven to be true in my case.
