Advantages: Helps and is small and portable.

Disadvantages: Probably need help to apply it

I'm not sure if a male voice will be welcome here, but I am writing this on behalf on my wife, so maybe I can be excused!

Like kymm63 my wife was involved in a car accident about 12 years ago (no, it wasn't me driving - nor her, actually). She suffered whip-lash injuries to the upper spine and osteopathy was no use as actual damage had occured to the little boney bits that stick out of the vertebra.

I have elsewhere written about auricular acupuncture which is quite effective but she went off this for some reason, maybe because I had a very small area to work on on the ear that it was beginning to hurt too much.

Anyway, she now has a Boots TENS unit and especially during the cold damp weather she gets me to "plug her in" each afternoon.

She reports that it does help - sometimes more than on other occasions. The only snag is that she has to have it applied to her back (obviously) and she can't do that herself so if I'm not around, she can't use it.

Scanning down the other reviews which are mainly to do with pregnancy and childbirth, I do think Boots are pulling a fast one - £25 for a month when the thing only costs slightly more than twice that! Rip-off! I suppose they have to replace the pads for each use, but even then!

Good review, but as far as I know, the Boots Baby TENS unit which they hire out is slightly different from the standard one which you can buy for £60.
