Advantages: Good price, helps with light pain

Disadvantages: Not effective for severe pain

I get occasional back pain and being a man who doesn't really do well with pain I have a collection of aides to help me with it. I am a big fan of cold and heat therapy and my favourite way to help with back pain is to use an ice pack and then a heat pack. However if I am not in the house it isn't always practical to use ice and heat pads so I need to get gels and sprays for the car and to take to the gym with me.

I usually buy certain brands but I have tried some cheaper ones too. The Tesco heat rub is a lot cheaper than the more premium brands and only costs £2.35 for a 35 gram tube.
Being a cream I do think it is easier to use than either a heat pad or a spray but I also find the effects to be slightly less effective and it doesn't seem to be as deep penetrating as some that I have tried.

When you rub the cream into the skin it gives an immediate sensation of heat which intensifies after a few minutes. The heat sensation is not overpowering but it does give an almost immediate relief from pain and although it won't get rid of severe pain it will help with light pain and I find it especially effective for using it after going to the gym when my muscles are aching.

I quite liked this heat rub but I did find that it wasn't as long lasting as I would have liked which is the reason I went back to using a heat spray as I find them to be longer lasting.
I do think this is a really good price and would be ideal for people to keep in their drawer at work or in their car glove compartment just to be able to rub it in when some aches and pains come on you.

If you do have more severe pain this isn't really going to do much more than distract you from the pain and you would be better buying something a little bit more powerful but for light aches and pains it would be worth giving it a try especially as it is so cheap.

Summary: Ok but there are better heat therapies on the market
