Sometimes, when I get a cold, it's such a heavy one that my nasal passage feels like it could explode with the pressure building inside it. It's way back in my nose, just below my eyes really, and it hurts my whole head. It makes me talk funny, restricts my breathing, and just generally makes me feel awful. No matter how much I blow my nose, it's still there, and this is why I paid up the cash for a Vicks Vapor Inhaler.

I think they look a bit like a tampon, but you have to shove them up your nose not your...yeah you get the point.

Priced around £2.50 for a tiny 0.5ml of active ingredients, these are basically nasal inhalers which you stick up your nose and snort into your cavities. Inside are Menthol and Camphor, both of which are excellent ingredients for unblocking noses.

So do they work? Well yes they do! The freezing cold menthol totally obliterates any blockages. You have to be careful though, as it's so cold and shocking to the system that a really big draught can leave your eyes watering and everything.

The only down-side is that you have to be able to inhale deeply for it to work, and sometimes your nose can be so blocked you can't inhale through your nostrils, so it doesn't work.

All in all, this is a handy thing to have when you've got a cold, but it's not always applicable. It's in the same vein as Deep Heat for muscle aches, and 4head for headaches. It's nice, and soothing and cooling, but it doesn't always help.
