Advantages: Works well, small size so can take anywhere, long shelf life, easy to use.
Disadvantages: Stings slightly at first, can bring on a gush of nasal discharge!
No one likes a snuffly, stuffed up nose but alas it is a rather common symptom of colds, allergies and the like; I hate it when my nose is blocked as I have to sleep with my mouth open which feels extremely alien to me and even when I'm awake I don't particularly like having to breathe through my mouth all the time as I just feel like a gasping fish. A product I find invaluable during these horrid times of nasal congestion is this nifty inhaler by vicks; a device which to use you just pop up your nostril and breathe in through your nose (as best you can!). What I love about this product is that it is unbelievably easy to use and works extremely quickly, providing temporary relief by helping to shrink swollen sinus membranes and easing sinus pressure too.
Due to it's handy size you can use it virtually anywhere, just pop it into your purse or pocket and hey presto, nasal relief on the go! The vicks vapours are soothing and really help to clear your nose; it's very common when you first take a sniff to experience a burst of nasal discharge but see this as a good thing as it means your blockage is being well...unblocked! According to the manufacturers: "The product delivers into each 800 ml of air 0.04 to 0.150 mg of levmetamfetamine." But you shouldn't use it more often than every 2 hours. There are various dosages but it's recommended that children under 6 years old do not use the product and for kids aged 6-12 it should be 1 inhalation in each nostril (with adult supervision), anybody aged 12 or more can take up to 2 inhalations in each nostril. Then there are the usual warnings such as "Do not use for more than 7 days. Frequent or prolonged use may cause nasal congestion to recur or worsen. Stop use and ask a doctor if symptoms persist."
Generally I do tend to forget about when I've taken this but will only use it a few times throughout the day, I find that even if you take it a bit hit and miss it still works wonderfully; usually after just 1 application I feel much better, though of course this relief is temporary and is not intended to cure your symptoms - rather it's designed to ease them. I can't comment on how much this costs as I found it randomly in one of our bathroom cabinets! It was still in the packaging but not sure how long these things stay in date, even so it did what it promised and really eased my stuffiness. Not overly keen on the slight stinging sensation when you first use it but I guess that just shows it has some welly and is fighting that congestion!
