Recently, I’ve been having headaches, bad headaches. After consultation with my GP, I was advised to go and see an optician. I had glasses when I was in school, you know how it is when you can’t see the white board no matter how much you screw your eyes up, tilt your head to the side and jump up and down, so the thought of getting glasses didn’t bother me too much, the problem was that I had lost my glasses somewhere between my house and Halls of Residence, when I moved in 2 years ago. So anyway, instead of going to our local, friendly optician (who also happened to be quite expensive, nice as he may be!) Vision Express was recommended to me by a friend. There was also the hope that I might get some special deal if in fact I had to get new glasses.

Monday morning, I decided that I would pop into Belfast, to Vision Express in Castle Court, in the hope that they may be able to give me an appointment that day, and if they couldn’t I was content to spend my hard earned pay in the various clothes shops surrounding! When I went in I was met by a lady, who told me that they could fit me in straight away, all I had to do was fill in a few minimal details and I would be on my way to a full eye test. After filling in the form I was sitting no more than 5 minutes when one of the assistants showed me into a room where they did the normal, initial tests. She was very friendly, explaining exactly what each test was for. I was made to feel very welcome, and they all seemed genuinely concerned about my headaches. 5 Minutes later I was introduced to the optician, a very kind man, chatty, friendly, who explained everything again, and who was very patient. I would go as far to say that it was almost enjoyable! Being the sort of person who hates going to the doctor, dentist or optician that’s a big compliment.

He told me that I needed -0.25 lenses, which is basically the first level of short-sightedness. He then proceeded to
show me what those who are going for tests to get their driving licenses renewed have to be able to see. I was astonished that I was able to see it perfectly without glasses, to which he told me that basically there was no point in me having glasses at all, as they would make very little difference.

He could have very easily told me that I needed glasses, and that would have been great profit for the shop, but I am impressed by the honesty of all the people in Vision Express.

I had another test carried out by the assistant, to test my field of vision, again she was very helpful.

All in all, it took me no more than 25 minutes for 3 tests, and cost £20, about the same as with my old optician, except this time I didn’t have to fork out for the glasses as well!

I guess it all depends on which branch you visit. Personally, I don't know anyone who has had a problem with the Vision Express in Belfast.
:) Thanks everyone for your comments!

Nice to see someone has had a good experience with these I went there and they were very stroppy and treated me like a piece of s**t! Sorry but it's true! I now visit a local optician and she's very nice to me! Good op though
