Perhaps the most famous vitamin of all is good old Vitamin C. I’m skipping Vitamin B for a while, its too complex….. (that’s about the best I can manage for vitamin based humour so from now on I’ll stick to some really bad Doctor Doctor jokes, if you don’t like them don’t say I didn’t warn you.) Doctor, Doctor I keep painting myself gold Don't worry it's just a gilt complex ! Here we go again with a brief history of vitamins, a Dutch physician, Christiaan Eijkmann, won the 1929 Nobel prize in physiology and medicine for their discovery. Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, was ... Read the complete review

I have taken Vitamin C on and off for years and I also buy it to add to homemade bread as it helps it to rise.Last week, I bought a 180 tablet Safeway vitamin C pack and was very surprised - sorry, read annoyed - when I got home and found that the plastic jar was less than half full of vitamin C tablets.(I confess, I counted them). O.K., so it does clearly state on the pack that it contains 180 tablets but putting them in a bigger than necessary package is misleading. It makes us think we are getting better value than we actually are. It's also pretty wasteful.I did complain to Safeway but don't feel that my complaint was taken seriously - never mind.I won't be ... A number of us out there believe that taking a pill every morning can help prevent cancer, heart disease, slow the aging process, boost the immune system and make us live longer. What is this magic pill? Simple, vitamin C. But before we all rush out to the chemists to buy mega quantities of this wonder vitamin, lets take an objective look at whether large doses of vitamin C are in fact beneficial and can do all these amazing things for your body. The truth is we do spend millions of pounds per year on vitamin C supplements. But there is evidence out there to suggest that supplements may actually be useless and that large doses may even harm us. ... Read the complete review

Like the name implies, vitamins are vital. Ascorbic acid, or otherwise known as Vitamin C, is a water soluble vitamin, (along with vitamin B), unlike vitamins A, D, E and K which are all fat soluble. Is this of any relevance? You may be asking! Well yes it is! Within the body we have lots and lots of water, so it is pretty obvious that a vitamin that is "water soluble" will readily dissolve and be used by the body. Hence we really need a daily intake of vitamin C (and B for that matter). The fat soluble vitamins can be stored within the body for a much longer time without being used straight away, so you ... this is by far the best fruit juice on the market. It is 100% pure juice and contains only 400 cals per litre. If like me you have trouble eating a daily recommended allowance of fruit then this makes a lovely alternative to sitting and eating 3-4 pieces of fruit. I find this product a treat to have and long for breakfast everymorning with the added knowledge of knowing that every mouthful is totaly pure and high in vitamin c. You can get red orange, ruby breakfast and smoooth and bits orange juice. A real treat which is healthy! ... Read the complete review
