Sea Kelp Tablets
by micheal123
I was a boxing fanatic for many years and really loved the sport and I still do as keeping fit and strong was a way of releasing my tensions and channeling my youthful energies in the right direction but due to a major shoulder injury it has now been three years since I have been able to participate in my sport but I am slowly getting ... better and hoping to be training before Christmas, my love of training and keeping fit goes hand in hand with being healthy so most of my life I have been learning about what extra things I could put in my body to make it more healthy.
Kelp tablets are one of the things I learnt about many years ago and still take today, due to the fact that when I was younger I loved tasty food I did not always eat as healthy as someone training as a boxer should so extra health benefits like Kelp tablets were really great for me.
Kelp is a herb which comes deep from under the sea it is basically Seaweed which thrives on the sunlight and will take in a host of minerals and nutrients which are in the water around it.
Kelp is thought to have many benefits for us, it is the top herb for supplementing iodine and although we hear a lot about other great vitamins such as vitamin C and calcium we rarely hear about iodine and the magical things in which it can do for us.
Iodine is something we need for a efficient thyroid and pituitary function, the Thyroid is positioned in our throats and its job is to regulate our body temperature and our metabolism, so for those trying to maintain a healthy weight or even trying to lose a few pounds Kelp can really help.
Kelp is something which I believe should be in everybody's daily health plan as it is packed with nutrients which we all need such as iron, calcium and potassium, it also has a natural antibiotic synthesized into it which will help you to fight off infection and is a great thing to use during cold and flu season, they build up your immune system and help with sinus congestion caused by allergies as well as the magnesium and iron helping to give you a healthy bloodstream and it helps the growth of your red blood cells in turn giving you energy and a great quality of life.
On top of all these benefits it also promotes good hair and nail growth making your hair thicker and stronger, it is a natural source of vitamin A, B2, C, D, and E so there is no two ways about it Kelp is amazing.
I usually get mine from Holland and Barrett and pay around £6 for 250 tablets, Kelp tablets are not just something I would recommend to people I would say they are a necessary product for people trying to live a healthy and hopefully long life.

Dioralyte Sachets
by milmol7
I have to admit that I keep Dioralyte sachets in my medicine cabinet not for their intended medicinal use, but because I heard about what a great rescue they are for hangovers!
Inside the box are individual sachets containing a small amount of blackcurrant smelling powder. You tear open the sachets and put them into a glass ... and top up with water. The quantity of water is a 200ml so not a huge amount, which is also good if you've been suffering badly with diarrhoea and sometimes you can't even take drinks. You stir the powder and water until the powder is fully dissolved and you're left with a cloudy-looking glass of liquid which has only a feint blackcurrant smell,
When you're actually drinking it, it's a peculiar consistency, difficult to describe, but not quite as thin as water or a standard blackcurrant drink. Not significantly, almost indetectable, but just that tiny bit more towards a syrupy texture than water. The taste is pleasant enough, but taking these drinks is not pleasant to me personally - the consistency, although almost indetectable, does feel a bit strange. (Or maybe thats the tickle-stomach of the hangover? ... or tummy bug!). Having said that, they are not exactly difficult or excessively unpleasant to take, but it's no pleasure either. At the end of the day though, it's just like having a drink and it's gone in a few seconds.
They contain electrolytes (salts) and glucose (sugars) which are all selected for their properties in building your system back up when you are dehydrated (whether through your misfortune or misadventure!!!). The sugars apparently help your body to absorb the salts quicker which accelerates how quickly they begin to make you feel better. Whatever the magic mix, I can say 100% from my experience, they DO work.
After a recent bout of diarrhoea, my partner took these sachets as soon as he was able to take drinks, and he was over it and feeling better quite quickly, I'm sure these really helped. As a hangover remedy I do find they work (not that I recommend the hangover of course) helping the rehydration process and making me feel human again. Read the complete review |

Dioralyte Sachets
by Aliasfan
INTRODUCTION
My first encounter with Dioralyte was in Hong Kong in summer 1994. I was travelling in my gap year, and spent three weeks volunteering to train youngsters in English. My first week was spent in a training centre and on the second day I must have eaten some bad bean sprouts because I. Was. Sick.
Really ... sick.
The next morning I stumbled out of my cabin and met up with the other Brits who were in a neighbouring hut. One of them, an older gentleman who'd travelled for decades, took pity on me and gave me some sachets of Dioralyte from his own medical kit. At this point I was willing to try anything as I was jetlagged, homesick and feeling desperately unwell.
I made up the sachet according to the instructions on the pack and sipped the resulting concoction very, very slowly. By some miracle it stayed down, and within an hour I was able to start getting some more liquids down. Within a day or so I was able to participate in activites again, and went on to have a fantastic time for the rest of my trip.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Dioralyte is a product designed to help replenish salts and essential electrolytes lost during bouts of acute vomiting and/or diarrhoea. What I didn't know until I encountered this product is that when you are suffering from this sort of illness you need to replace more than just water.
Dioralyte comes in a variety of flavours, the most commonly available (and palatable) being the blackcurrent. It's normally sold in boxes of 6 sachets for around £3.50. Cheaper own-brand versions are available and are just as effective, but they don't taste as nice and when I'm really ill I want to take the most pleasant product available.
The back of the Dioralyte box contains comprehensive instructions on dosage, use and precautions, and even some simple graphics for when you're so ill you can barely think straight. Inside are six single-dose sachets and a clear, detailed information leaflet.
USER EXPERIENCE
I'm unlucky enough to be one of those people who catches a vomiting bug with annoying regularity so I always make sure I have sachets of in-date Dioralyte in the house.
Each sachet is easily torn open to reveal the product which is a white, granular powder. I think it has a chemically smell, but considering it's packed full of all the salts your body is crying out for when you're suffering acute illness, I don't care! It dissolves easily in water with minimal stirring.
When you are suffering acute illness it can be very hard to keep fluids down, and so it is recommended that you sip Dioralyte slowly to minimise the risk of triggering more vomiting. This is where having a palatable product is essential for me and the reason why I choose to buy the branded product rather than a cheaper, generic alternative. If I need to sip something slowly I want the taste to be something I can (literally!) stomach.
Once made up with water I don't notice the chemically smell of Dioralyte Blackcurrent which makes it easier to face drinking. It tastes very salty (due to the essential ingredients it contains). The blackcurrent flavour masks it sufficiently for me to be able to sip the made-up liquid with no problems.
CONCLUSION
Ever since my experience in Hong Kong all those years ago I have learned to take rehydration very seriously when I am ill. Dioralyte is an excellent product that helps me start that process quickly and is now the first thing I attempt to drink after an acute bout of illness. Once I have managed to consume a Dioralyte drink I am usually able to start drinking plain water, so this product is an essential first-step in recovery for me. Read the complete review |
